This means that if a police has reason to believe that you have information on your phone then they can search it without warrant. The Supreme Court disagreed and said that in order to search a persons phone you need permission from a neutral judge.

A search of a phone without a warrant is considered violation of the 4th amendment due to the amount of information that a cell phone contains.

After pulling him over the officer discovered he had a suspended license. The officer searched the car and found two weapons under the hood. Riley was arrested and his phone was searched where the officers discovered he was a gang member. The information on the phone was able to link other individuals to gang related crimes also. He was charged 15 years to life for his crimes. After they raided his house they found cash, drugs, and a weapon. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
