For this assignment, I chose to independently research llamas. I chose llamas as my topic, because they are my favorite animal. I also chose llamas, because it is in no way, shape, or form related to any answers that my students may need. This is simply a sample post, where I am forcing you to look at a picture of a llama. As you can see, I not only posted a picture of a llama, but I also included TWO credible sources about llamas that I used to complete my research. Nonetheless, it is not enough to just copy and paste the URLS. I need to make sure that I mention that I learned llamas are about the same height of a 6 foot tall human, according to National Geographic. If you are typing your responses, then the answer to each question should be this length (6-12 sentences). I also recommend the audio recording or creating a video. Happy posting!
Works Cited:

http://blogs.oregonstate.edu/animalconnection/2012/01/19/five-cool-things-about-llamas/

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/mammals/l/llama/

First to start, in my opinion, think that King Arthur is real to an extent. according to an article by Rebecca Sparling, there was a figure that resembled King Arthur, his name was Riothamus, Riothamus was a roman leader sent to Britian to get rid of the Saxtons. He also went by the name of Artorius, so historians believe that people called him Arthur. Now the topic I choose was The supposed magical sword Excalibur. According to Legend, Excalibur was a magical broadsword that was wielded by King Arthur. It was said that who ever pulled Excalibur out of its stone/anvil (depends on which version you read), would be crowned the king of Britain. over all how ever excalibur would be a normal broadsword. my guess is that Excalibur is an unremarkable sword that was stuck in a rock.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAqb8XHGezI

https://www.ancient.eu/Excalibur/

In my opinion, there was a king named Arthur who ruled over the English and won some battles against the Saxons and may have even had a jeweled strong sword, but there was no magic. The sword he could have had may have just been a sword that looked magical with gems. According to the website Angelcynn Re-Enactment Society.com, most sword hilts of the day were made from wood, bone or horn and he could have gotten one made with metal or gold and inlayed with gems, which would have seemed magical at the time. Based on google maps, the places talked about in the book are real, such as the castles of Tintagel and Caerleon. The explanation given in the book for Camelot is that it is now called Winchester, which could be true as names of places change over time. As for Merlin, he could have just been an advisor to the king rumored to be a wizard. The Independent claims Merlin was real, but was a warrior-king, a leader of the Picts named Myrddin, who defeated an army of Irish. They claim he fought at the battle of Arderydd, a notoriously bloody battle between a native group known as Y Gogledd and another army of Irish and was driven made by the carnage which led him to wander the forest and talk to animals leading to the wizard label.

I chose to research medieval knights and I learned that being a knight wasn't as romantic as it has been depicted. First of all, I learned you began your training at 7 years old by becoming a page. According to Ancient History Encyclopedia.com, the job of a page was to serve the knights, learn handle the horses, and use mock weapons. Most pages were from noble families. They became a squire at 14, then became a knight at 18. To be a knight you had to stay in a church awake all night the night before you were knighted. While modern depictions of knights show them moving around quickly in their armor, that was not the case. Swords and armor were very heavy with armor weighing in around 45-55 pounds and in the heat it was bad because the armor heated up quick. Helmets were also hard to see out of if they were very protected. This is relevant to the novel because the knights are the central characters in the story.
Sources:
http://www.angelcynnreenactmentsociety.org.uk/home/anglo-saxon-weapons-armour

https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/wizard-theory-merlin-was-no-magician-but-he-made-an-army-vanish-47811.html

https://www.ancient.eu/Medieval_Knight/

1.) In my opinion, I think King Arthur is a fictional character because he was created in a story from Geoffrey of Monmouth. According to the TED- Ed video, it proves that in the video, it says that “King Arthur is a creation of the later Middle Ages”. Therefore, I also think that there is no possible way that King Arthur, pulled a magical sword out of a stone/anvil. I think it's impossible to have a kid pull a sword out. Based on what I read, there was one thing that I thought was real such as, Arthur becoming as king.
2.) The topic I chose was Excalibur. I chose this topic because I think it was very interesting learning about this magical sword. According to https://www.ancient.eu/Excalibur/, Excalibur is a magical sword that was in a stone. A man who was able to pull this sword would become King of Britain. In my opinion, during the story, I think the Excalibur is going to help Arthur in battles and fights. Below is a picture of the sword.

In my opinion, I think King Arthur is not a real person because of the story. The reason I think King Arthur is not real is because I don't feel like only ONE person could pull out a sword. Also in the book it said he had even put the sword back in the spot. Other people tried to pull it out. But how can it stay back in its original place? It can't. For an example, a sticker, once you put it on something then take it off, it does not stick as well. Another reason I think the story is fake it because he easily pulled out the sword. Everyone else could not. It is just sketchy to me. Also I chose to research Medieval Knights. I found a video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pG0dMxybV_8) In the video I learned that the knights start training at seven years old. At seven they are called a Page. At fourteen you would become a Squire. They would learn how to ride a horse, hunt, taking care of armor, etc. As a squire you could go into a battle as an assistant. Then at age twenty one you could officially become a knight.

Resources
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pG0dMxybV_8

http://www.medieval-life-and-times.info/medieval-knights/

In my most thorough regards King Arthur is a fictional character his story simply doesn't make sense. Just starting off we know he was an aristocrat. This is important because we read that he had to run back to his house to get his knight brother a sword for a tournament he was competing in. This aristocratic family likely would have had slaves or "peasants" in a more realistic situation a peasant would be "fetching" the sword. So for Arthur to run all the way back to his house and find that sword in the anvil is unrealistic. Too on the topic of the sword in the anvil this was big talk in their society so Arthur would obviously know about it.

In my opinion, King Arthur is real. There are many versions of the legend of King Arthur. In some there are love stories, in others Merlin is a wizard that helps Arthur. It is hard to find reliable sources and claims as to what really happened or didn't happen to King Arthur. According to https://mysteriousuniverse.org/2016/05/king-arthurs-tomb-may-have-been-found/ King Arthur's tomb was found with the words "Here lies buried the famous King Arthur with Guinevere his second wife, in the Isle of Avalon." I don't think there was any magic though. Arthur might have been taken from his royal family. Arthur also may have done many heroic deeds, although I highly doubt he pulled out a magic sword from the gods.

According to https://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/73175/where-did-king-arthur-get-his-sword-excalibur Their are two swords that are key parts in Arthur's legend. Clarent is a ceremonial sword. Excalibur is Arthur's battle sword. Although some may mistake Excalibur for the sword Arthur pulled out of the Anvil/stone, that is not the case. Clarent designates Arthur as being rightful heir and is used by King Arthur for rituals. Excalibur grants the divine right to rule England. Excalibur is the more well known sword in the legend.

There could have been a person like king Arthur but not named King Arthur and the sword could have happened. But I think all of it is not real only because there is real proof that he was a person. I picked excalibur for my topic, I learned that the excalibur is most unlikely to be the real one because when the droughts in the dozmarying pool which was also thought to be a bottomless pool and in 1859 and 1976 it was dried out and it was not found at all when it was searched in 1976. And I think it is gonna be relevant with something that happens later on in the book that involves the sword getting lost i the dozmarying pool.

https://vocal.media/geeks/has-king-arthur-s-legendary-sword-of-excalibur-finally-been-found

https://www.ancient.eu/Excalibur/

What was Excalibur? In Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte D’Arthur, it is the weapon that King Arthur wields. King Arthur, is supposedly a great king from Britain, who saved the country when it was most in need. Although we do not know if he was alive, we can be sure that some part of the legends must be true. There have been so many tales, and so many variations of said tales, that there has to have been someone like the King Arthur we know, who must have been able to wield a weapon somewhat worthy of the name Excalibur.

The question is, was Arthur real? Well, from what I was able to infer, Arthur’s first appearance was around 1,200 C.E. where a Welsh poet named Nennius accounted 12 battles the warrior king was supposedly in? While this isn’t much to go by, it is something. Further research concluded, that in an article by Joshua J. Mark, originally Excaliber was first named Caliburnus, which was wielded by the king we know and love. It was the sword of swords, unrivaled, and unbeatable. It was given to him by the Lady of the Lake, whereafter he died, was returned to her.

This part of the legend is one of the few parts that has been kept and stayed unaltered through time. I hope this informed you of Excalibur’s origins.

https://www.ancient.eu/Excalibur/

https://www.history.com/news/was-king-arthur-a-real-person

In my opinion, I believe that King Arthur is fictional because out of all the history books that were written at the time his name was barely mentioned. I believe that people created king Arthur as a story for kids to help them learn that no matter how old they are they can make a difference. The book mentioned that they didn’t believe that he was the one who pulled out the sword so they made him put back the sword and pull it out again. No one else could pull out the sword but only him. It doesn’t make logical sense that only a 16-year-old was the only one who could pull out the sword. Also, how did the sword stay stuck once he pulled out the sword, wouldn’t the sword be able to be pulled in and out with ease? Anyways I decided to do my research on Excaliber, Excalibur was a sword which was gifted to Arthur when the sword in the stone broke while he was fighting King Pellinore. According to the book, the lady of the lake was the one who gave Arthur the sword, she led him onto a boat and once the boat hit shore he walked through the forest for a little and he saw the sword with a clothed white samite.

https://www.ancient.eu/Excalibur/

From this site, I learned that the sword was a sing of virtue and justice. The sword was also originally named Caliburnus but renamed Excalibur.

I believe that King Arthur could be real, although I don't think the stories were accurate. King Arthur could have been a young king that taken to live with a knight when he was young. his birth father could have been a king, which would make him air to the throne. When he went to the tournament, someone could have recognized that he looked like the old king, then he would have been made king. Marven would not have been magic and psychic. Marven could have been a smart early scientist that was the adviser for the king. Marven could have been known for his brainpower and public speaking and was able to convince the crowds that Aurthur should be king. When Arthur fought the king, he could have been stabbed and not died than could have been taken to a doctor in the woods. When he got his sword, it could have been made by some of the best blacksmiths at the time and could have had some very unusual qualities and could be very lethal. Marven could convince the knight to leave him alone. So in conclusion, not everything about king Arthur is real, but he might be.

1.) Just a reminder this is also in the Middle Ages where there were wizards and dragons or something. This means that we don't only have little historic records but that almost everything could be interpreted. In my opinion, I believe King Arthur is fictitious, a fraud. I mean I'm sure I'm not the only one to think this but really? This guy was questionable from the start. For example, just from when he pulled this "magic sword" that would only be drawn by the "true King of Britain" from this stone. If you can remember from the Knights Of The Round Table, it directly quotes,"Without stopping to read what was written on the stone, Arthur pulled out the sword at a touch..." From this sentence alone, we can infer that he pulled the sword EASILY in a rush. LATER HE EVEN PUT THE THING BACK AND PULLED IT AGAIN TO PROVE EVERYONE! There were hundreds of beefy knights back then I'm sure of it, but a kid just pulls it like its a straw in jello? (strange analogy but I can't think right now) I just think that this story is either a tale to entertain the people of GREAT BRITAIN in the past or to interest future generations to become brave men and women to fight for their country in justice.

2.)I chose to research Excalibur, or Caliburnus in the original story. This is a big boy sword, really strong too apparently. The cream of the crop, top of the top. ok I'll stop. According to Ancient History Encyclopedia, this ancient relic of a weapon was completely different from the sword in the stone. Firstly in the book, King Arthur And His Knights Of The Round Table, on page 18 it explains to us that during Arthur's fight with King Pellinore, his stone drawn sword broke into two. Merlin then saves him by druggi-,I mean using magic sleepy, on Pellinore just in time to help Arthur get a new sword from the Lady in the Lake (the EXCALIBUR) (pg.21-22).
[Added]
Secondly, according to the story of Sir Thomas Malory in Encyclopedia Britannica, the sword in the stone was originated from his work. Later on we also learn that ANOTHER story explains that Excalibur was given to Arthur by the Lady in the Lake but returned later after being hurt in his last battle.

Sources used:
https://www.ancient.eu/Excalibur/
https://www.britannica.com/topic/Excalibur-Arthurian-legend

1. As far as I am concerned, Arthur is a fictional character though some stories about him might be real. It is told in the story that the sword in the stone is "magical" and I do not believe that this can be real. The sayings of sword/wand choose its host does not seem credible to me. What I meant by the character King Arthur is fictional but the stories told about him might be real is that some parts of the story came from historic records. Since the version of story about Arthur that we know today has been edited by many different people from different countries and culture, it might be a combination of stories that happened on different people. There is also no way that Arthur became the greatest king if Merlin and sword Excalibur were made up. Merlin is described as a magician in the story and saved Arthur's life several time and all those just seem to be a myth to me. The story of sword Excalibur cannot possibly be true because it is a magic sword granted to Arthur from the lady of the lake and again, magical sword and just magic itself is a myth. According to https://www.history.com/news/was-king-arthur-a-real-person historians have been unable to find any evidence that shows Arthur had really existed.

2. I chose Merlin as my research topic. The name Merlin originally came from the latin word Merlinus in Geoffrey of Monmouth’s ‘Historia Regum Britanniae’. Merlin was partly based on Myrddin, a Welsh literary figure, and partly on the figure of Ambrosius from ‘Historia Brittonum’ written by 9th century Welsh monk Nennius according to https://www.arthurian-legend.com/merlin/
Merlin was King Arthur’s most trusted advisor, prophet, magician, and friend. During the middle ages he was very popular, and ever since the Renaissance he remained popular. https://kingarthursknights.com/arthurian-characters/merlin/

1.) In my opinion, i think that King Arthur is real but exaggerated. According to the TED-Ed video I watched, there was a Writer called Geoffrey of Monmouth. He wrote a book called the History of The Kings Of Britain, this book contained at lot of mentions of King Arthur and realistic accounts and battles that had happened. But, there was also some things that I think are fake. For example I think the Holy Grail is very fake because, I don't really believe in magic and they say that the Holy Grail contains magical powers. So to close thing up really I still believe that King Arthur is real, but people like the exaggerate the story a little bit with all the magic.

2.) The topic that I picked was Excalibur. I heard about Excalibur being the promised sword to King Arthur when he came of age.
https://www.ancient.eu/Excalibur/. In this link it explains that the sword was given to Arthur by the Lady of the Lake when he turned of age. this cite also includes that wheneverArthur is badly harmed Excalibur was not to be given to any Knight, no matter how noble they were. It was to be returned back to the lady of the lake until Arthur is ready for the sword one again.

Sorces I used:
https://www.britannica.com/topic/Excalibur-Arthurian-legend

https://www.ancient.eu/Excalibur/

1.
I personally believe that king Arthur is a made up character because of following reasons.
1) According to TED-ED, " one of the poem, The Gododdin, contains a very first reference to Arthur, though Arthur himself doesn’t actually appear in it. It says a different warrior, named Gwawrddur, was skilled at slaying his enemies, but no Arthur.

" If King Arthur is really an exist person, he would be one of the greatest king of British. As a result, everyone after it will call him " king Arthur", but not just Arthur. From the other side, if the poem was wrote in the time period Arthur was still alive, the author of Gododdin should put him into the poem as a character, rather than just put a name "Arthur". Since King rules Knight, specially King Arthur is a person who will go fight with all the knights in the war. Somehow King Arthur will appear in the poem. " But whoever this Arthur was, he must've been the gold standard of warriors." says in TED-ED video. In my opinion, this explanation can fit better in the poem than Arthur is a real person.
2) Even though there might be a person who called King Arthur lived earlier, But through the time past, Geroffrey, Wace, Troyes, and Sir Thomas all add their own idea into the story. They made a normal person turn to a leader who never leads the army to failure, also add the magic swords, Merlin, Love stories, round table, and holy Grail. " his story has transformed over and over, to reflect the concern of his chroniclers and their audience." from TED-ED video also support my opinion. The story is more like a combination of chroniclers' thinking rather than just simply telling the life story of king Arthur.

2.
I did research on Medieval Knight for my independent research. I learned that to become a knight, it will takes a lot of times and efforts. Starting in very young, they have to learn how to use every weapons, how to fight on the horse, and more stuff than that. The most important thing knights have to learn is a knowledge of the rules of chivalry. But you cannot become a knight just with a good skill on fight, and enough knowledge on Chivalry, you have to have an aristocratic birth ( start in 13 century CE) , money for weapons, to become a knight. If everything is going very well, you can become a knight in age 21. What's more, Good looks, fine clothes, a striking coat of arms, and an ability to recite poetry and songs, are not necessary for becoming a knight, but it is necessary for rise to the very top of this elite level of medieval society.

https://www.ancient.eu/Medieval_Knight/

https://youtu.be/UBp26Q4gmYA

Do I think Arthur is real? From information and other facts that the web has stated, I think he isn’t real. Why? Because most of the information I have gathered has made me believe that he’s a fictional character. And since mostly this story has a person that is almost “godlike” I find it really difficult to believe that he is able to pull a magical “sword” by himself. Also who made this sword. Where did it come from? Anyways leaving Arthur behind all of the questions, when and where did fairies and dragons and elves come too? Arthur is just straight up folklore made by legends upon legends.

2.) For my topic I chose Merlin. What I came to learn is that Merlin was an "Alchemist". He was created by Geoffrey of Monmouth (c. 1100 - c. 1155 CE). He wasn't a great sage and he only was in a book. He could predict the future. "A half cannot hate what truly makes it whole." quote of Merlin.

https://merlin-forever.livejournal.com/24374.html
https://www.ancient.eu/Merlin/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7sIoTw0Z34

1. In my opinion, I think King Arthur is just a fictional character and that he is not real. We all know King Arthur from stories, movies and videos. The only evidence we have of King Arthur are poems. Also, King Arthur proved that he could pull out the sword by sticking it back in the stone and pulling it out once again. If King Arthur could do that, what about the person who stuck it in the stone in the first place? How come they didn't pull it out? In the poem King Arthur was not mentioned, instead a great warrior was mentioned. After reading this poem, many authors made legends and stories about King Arthur. This is how we know King Arthur today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBsY88Lir-A
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pG0dMxybV_8

2. For my research topic, I chose the Medieval knights. I found out that young boys at the age of 8 get sent to the castle to train. Once he becomes 14 he becomes a squire. He learns to ride a horse, take care of armor, hunting, and more. At age 21 they become knights. Later, new weapons would be invented such as crossbows and gunpowder. Since these were invented, it made the knights useless, and that was the end of the Medieval knights. I think this topic will relate to the story we will be reading because many different medieval knights would be fighting in wars.

I agree with both of you on how the story of King Arthur is a fake. The main thing that throws me off is the Excalibur story, I don't think that a kid can pull a sword out of a stone but full grown knights can. I also don't think merlin the wizard was real. For my research topic I chose Excalibur.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAqb8XHGezI
https://kingarthursknights.com/arthurian-characters/merlin/.
2. My research topic is Excalibur the tail about the sword stuck in the stone and who ever pulls it out they are the one true king of Briton. This relates to the story because King Arthur was going to get his brothers sword but he took the excalibur sword instead and had no problem pulling it out.

1. I believe that some parts of the story of King Arthur is real but other parts I believe is fake. I think Merlin was not a enchanter but as in the TED video was a bard or councilor and Excalibur was the name of his sword and that is was a sword made by a master smith and was very strong and very sharp, The magic aspect of it is not real. Some other parts of it like fairy, elves, and magic are not real and were just added on to make the story more adventurous and mystifying. 2. I chose to research myths, legends, and tales because I like to see what's really real and what's just a fictional story. What I learned is that a lot of stories that involve mythical creatures and Gods are either are part of their religion for example like the Greeks and their Gods and Goddesses. They believed that minotaurs and Medusa were real based on a writing by Homer and art. The magic, elves, and fairies are just made up. I think topic is very revelate to our book because there is so many mentions of magical creatures and enchantments. for example Merlin says " I bore him to Avalon, the land of mystery, and dwellers of Avalon-you know them not, but would call them fairies and elves." I think these were just regular people who lived in isolation and were shrouded with mystery.

As proven by my research KING ARTHOR IS NOT REAL! here is why. As I researched current and the past rulers of the Britain, King Arthor was not placed as the past rulers, plus the person who created the King Arthor as a fictional character was Geoffrey of Monmouth as also referred to Galfridus Arcturus. now about Galfridus Arturus he probably was inspired by one king of an area and wanted to write about it, but he also was inspired by himself and named that fictional character Arthor as also the last name of Galfridus Arturus. people must have got mixed up with the history since it got rewritten for many centuries and all people have probably got lost. btw Camelot is'nt a real place, thats another bonus

Topic
For this topic I chose Merlin, and we all can agree for his immortality and being a real being is counterfeit!

Jay

It seems to me, that King Arthur could have been real, but not in the way we would think of it. In multiple articles, it’s stated that Arthur was based on multiple leaders in England. Whether they might be a military commander, king, or a prince, I think that King Arthur is an amalgamation of many important figures. The first mention of Arthur was by a Welsh historian, Nennius, well over a hundred years after Arthur’s supposed lifetime. He claimed that the King fought in 12 battles, but the time span between each battle is so far apart, that it wouldn’t be possible for Arthur to have been one person this entire time. Leading me to believe that the famous warrior king, could be a result of a puzzle put together through many people as the pieces. He is real, but through multiple strong leaders, to form an amalgamate of this legendary man we know of today.

https://www.history.com/news/was-king-arthur-a-real-person

https://www.historyextra.com/period/medieval/8-things-you-probably-didnt-know-about-king-arthur/

I chose to research the Anglo-Saxon Invasion, there really wasn’t much to go off of, it was all just the same things said over and over and over. What I can say is that there is mention of King Arthur, but all sources including Arthur say that he defeated the Anglo-Saxons, when it has been proven that England lost the battle. The conflicting evidence makes me question whether or not the topic is relevant to the novel, but then again, King Arthur could be based on one of the British’s famous military leaders that lead the battle to defend England’s territory. The invasion was in two waves, the Anglo-Saxon’s first attempt was unsuccessful because the British had the aid of the Romans to help defend their land. The Romans won against the Saxons, leading them to retreat. At the beginning of the 5th century, the Romans left England to their own devices and had not trained the British on how to defend themselves. Once the Romans left, the Saxons came back to invade England, and which they succeeded after many different tactical attacks over several years.

http://www.primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk/saxons/when.htm

https://www.arthurian-legend.com/king-arthur/

1) In my opinion, I believe that parts of King Arthur's story are true. According to Rebecca Sparling's The Search For The Real King Arthur, there is a man that could be the real King Arthur. He was first recorded by a monk named Gildas. He wrote that a man named Ambrosius Aurelianus led the British to victory against the Saxons. Centuries later, a scholar named Nennius said that this man's name was Arthur. Do I believe that there was once a king named Arthur? Yes. Do I believe that he was a great Military leader? Yes. I believe that he could have had an advisor named Merlin, But the part I do not believe in is the fact that he was a great sorcerer. I do not believe that King Arthur was given gifts made by faries and elves.
2) The topic I chose to research about was the great sword Excalibur. I learned that the sword was actually called Caliburnus at the time. The sword was written about first around 1136 A.D. by Geoffery of Monmouth. I do not personally believe that excalibur was magical, but excalibur was a magical sword set into the stone, and whoever was able to pull it out, was destined to be the greatest king of Britan.

Myths VS Legends VS Folktales

Myths, legends, and folktales are all very different, even though they seem very similar. First of all, myths may be loosely based on a true story. However, they are usually a made up story to “explain the world and major events,” according to myths.e2bn.org. Many of these myths were made to explain things when they were not understood, but we have figured out the real cause or reason to many of the things myths are about. Many myths were also created to teach lessons about other things such as morals. Second, legends are usually based on true events, or at least mostly are. However, many legends have mythical elements. In legends, the characters are usually humans, with the main character being a great hero. They are also passed from generation to generation, before they were written down. Therefore, they were altered and things were added and lost in the process of storytelling. Last, folktales are similar to both legends and myths, but still very different. As stated by study.com, folktales were spread by mouth for a long time before being written down. They typically do not have a lesson at the end of the story, but they do sometimes. Also, humans are usually the main characters. Some folktales were passed on and altered. Sometimes they do not change very much, but sometimes everything changes except for a couple characters. In conclusion, myths, legends, and folktales are similar, but not the same.

Sources: http://myths.e2bn.org/about/info272-what-are-myths-legends-and-folktales.html

https://study.com/academy/lesson/the-fable-folktale-myth-legend-differences-and-examples.html

1.) In my opinion, the legend of King Arthur is part-true, and part-fabricated. The legend is extremely wide-spread and dated. According to the TED-Ed video provided to us, the first narrator of King Arthur's adventures was Aneirin, who wrote the Welsh work The Gododdin in the 13th century. The Gododdin was later studied by Geoffrey of Monmouth, as well as other Celtic and Latin sources, to create the book "The History of the Kings of Britain." In this edition, King Arthur wielded a sword called Caliburnus, and resided in a castle called Caerleon, which would later become Excalibur and Camelot, respectively. I believe that King Arthur existed and ran the Germanic tribe of Barbarians known as the Saxons out of England. I do not believe that the various artifacts in the legend are magic, however. My thoughts are that as the Legend of King Arthur grew older and passed through the mouths of many storytellers, it was naturally changed. Elements were added, and some were probably taken away. It only makes sense that Arthur was a real person and actually did rule a part of England.
2.) I researched the topic "The Saxon Invasion of Great Britain." I learned a lot about this topic from two major sources. I have listed them below. From the Ancient History Encyclopedia, I learned who the Saxons were. They were a Germanic tribe of illiterate Barbarians who pirated sea trade routes around Europe. They lived in the North Sea Coast of the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark. From "Saxon Britain- 1:08 Sarah Woodbury's Medieval Britain", I learned specifically about the Saxon Invasion. "Vortigern and Rowena", by William Harvey details a Saxon Invasion after Vortigern invited a troop of Saxon warriors to fight off another Barbarian tribe that was in Eastern England. After defeating them, the Saxons stayed and proceeded to pilfer and steal from England. Two decades after, when the Romans withdrew their forces, politics, leaders, and military from England, the Saxons took over. When Arthur came into control, he defeated the Saxons for awhile. After his death, however, the Saxons regained control. This directly relates to "King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table." It gives information in detail about Arthur's enemy and where they came from.

https://www.ancient.eu/Saxons/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggR6v-rN0vs
