While they were likely carried out by Lizzie, the actual amount of whacks dealt to the Bordens were halved! Even the order of the murders is incorrect. There was enough evidence to prove her as the most likely suspect... however I understand that the police, especially back in 1892, could not use this as the basis of their arrest. Lizzie's (expensive) lawyers refuted many of the main pieces of evidence against her... however I wish we could know for certain that the dress she was wearing that day was stained with paint or with blood.
