Technology has surpassed our educational system time and time again, yet teachers continue with the same lesson plans, same activities and the same processes. I see students who are "compliant" on a daily basis but very rarely do I see what I would consider true engagement. In all honesty, do we really know what engages students in the 21st century and if so, what are we doing about it? Are we learning the online platforms that students continuously play or are we still giving paper and pencil only options that provide no creativity or passion in the learning process? 
We must find a better way! Research over the past decade shows us that students who have choices in the tools in which they demonstrate they learning, produce higher levels of student engagement and achievement.
