The prologue suggests that that is not the case. There is going to be a lot of death and violence in the story as well.

The effect that knowing the plays out come is it makes it less surprising. You now know already that there will be 2 lovers who try and overcome their parents anger. It also makes the play more dramatic when something happens that you don’t expect.

I expect that the characters in the play will be very violent and anger filled.

1.) The main emotion I felt was interest when reading the prologue. I am interested to learn more about the strife between two families and the romance that unfolds from each of those families. I was also shocked to learn when the prologue said that the two characters did in the end.

2.) I think knowing this information allows us to be able to analyze some possible foreshadowing the future since we know the major plot ending.

3.) I’m expecting a major conflict between these two families. I’m interested to see why these two families are in conflict; maybe due to politics or wealth. I’m also expecting some kind of major civil unrest between these families. Maybe some kind of bloody civil war.

I think this is going to be a very poetic and drama filled play. It will involve lots of heavy emotions like, death, love, hatred. I was surprised by how deep the backstory of such an iconic play is. I think learning the outcome before the play helps the audience, or readers, have a better understanding of the character’s actions and motives. It also eliminates the element of surprise, instead of everyone being surprised about the deaths, they tell them first thing to get them ready for it. My expectations are pretty high, considering this is a Shakespeare play and very popular, I think this will be a very well thought out plot and will make sense.

1.) What reactions do you have about the prologue? the prologue makes me excited to read the play, it makes me intrigued to move along. It definitely sets the tone and makes sure thatI understand what I will be reading about.

2.)What is the effect of learning the outcome of the play from the beginning? Learning the outcome of the play basically sets up the reader/audience on what to look for in the midst of the play, what to really keep in mind going along. It also acts as a sort of hook for the reader, because like I said above it got me intrigued into the play, and wanting to reader further on.

3.)What expectations do you have for the play and its characters based off of what you have read? I expect this play or have many different aspects to it and many different genres, though I think it is mainly seen as a tragedy. I also expect it to be a very entertaining and fun play to read. I can definitely appreciate a good work when I see one, and this fits the bill perfectly for me!

1. I was surprised by the constant mention of death, toil, and strife, because I had the impression that the play wound mainly be about the love that Romeo and Juliet share.

2. Knowing that Romeo and Juliet will eventually die makes you be more aware of the plot structure and every event leading up to this tragic moment.

3. I expect that Romeo and Juliet's parents will constantly fight as Romeo and Juliet try to stop them, but fail.

My reaction to the prologue was shocking because I have never read Romeo and Juliet all I know about it is how it is a love story. The prologue introduced me to some background information about the differences of the two star-crossed lovers. Also, it shared information that kinda spoiled the story which normally play and books don’t do.

The effect is that you know the ending of the play and can assume what is going to happen. It ruins the point of being on your toes about what will happen next.

I expect that the two star-crossed lovers will misadventure through different struggles and their love will be doomed.

1)When I read the prologue, I was surprised when I heard that Romeo and Juliet die in the book. I have never read this book before but have heard of it and never expected them to die. I was also shocked to find out despite the two families having and ancient grudge for each other, Romeo and Juliet were still together.

2)The effect of learning the outcome of the play from the beginning is that the reader can know what to expect from the play or story. Although it is a bit of a spoiler of what will happen, I think it can be helpful for people to have some general knowledge and understanding for the play of story.

3)I expect the play and characters to be very dramatic including death, violence, and romance but also with some sad parts.
