I noticed how soft the text looks and immediately realized how much thought was put into the typography here. There is a difference in the typefaces used for the Charmin logo and the 'Ultra Soft' heading. Although both feature rounded edges, the Charmin logo ensures that there are no straight lines/hard edges, and is made to look soft and dreamlike. I really like the variety of fonts in this section of the large tin I found this on. The text for the different flavors is distinctive and indicative of their taste. The heading 'Bag of Bones" is very jagged and spooky (reminiscent of Halloween) while also being brittle and chipped in places. I can tell that the designer wanted the text to appear very sleek and cutting edge. They use only triangles, diagonal, and vertical lines, all which feature sharp points (to carry across the 'cutting edge' idea. My favorite part of this example is not the text itself, but the way that the text has been repeated across the glasses case in a semi-transparent fashion. I decided to include it because I felt that the simple sans-serif font was effectively used with hierarchy in mind to create an effective, informational design. I personally immediately read what I thought was the most important information (the scent of the candle) first, as it's the largest sized out of all the text on the candle and up against a white background. Then, my eyes went to the Logo for 'Tuscany' with the rest of the information following that. I wanted to include the Prismacolor logo as I think that it's effective in communicating their brand image. They want to be perceived as a manufacturer of high-quality and professional art materials for making colored images. The simplicity of the type brings with it that sense of professionalism, while the rainbow underline clues the viewer into the type of product that the company makes. I find Band-Aid's logo to be effective as a medical supply. They're not trying to sell you on their brand, but rather making it easy to spot in a time of need. The designer clearly prioritized legibility in the text which is large, uniform, in all caps, with tight tracking. The red color also conveys its use as a medical tool, which is to stop bleeding. The patches of white within the characters in the word 'Gingerbread' make it read to me as though it could have been written on a counter with the mix itself. My favorite thing about this example is how large and dominating the 'O' is, while still leaving the entire line of text readable.  It completely dwarfs the word 'cereal,' which is so small that it's impossible to read with the naked eye (the image here is already zoomed in quite a lot). Everything else is in an accent to the 'O', and is treated as such. The word 'Honey' is orange against a yellow background and in italics, so the eye glazes right over it and reads the O which trails off into the 'hs!.' I appreciate how each word is dominated by its own font and style, yet they are all connected by common themes including depth, dimension, and color. I really like how in the word 'Richmond', the individual characters are staggered and facing different directions, allowing one's eyes to bounce up and down, while the sense of floating or levitating in mid air is supported by the supernatural blue haze surrounding each letter. In terms of the second word, 'Folk' it is interesting to me how in a way, two fonts are combined into one, as the exterior is chunky and 3D, while the interior is thinner and flatter, highlighting the shape of each letter form. To me, the cursive font and slight italicization feel vintage, perhaps commenting on the legacy and long history of the Krispy Kreme business. I feel that the red font is effective in capturing one's visual attention in comparison to the white background it is set upon (good contrast), while the utilization of green (for the border and the background for "Doughnuts") compliment the red and help it to further pop.
