I would utilize the Super 3 research steps. 
Plan: Narrow down the research of a topic to something specific: such as: Early Life of George Washington. 
Do: Provide students a set of questions to answer as well as specific websites to visit. Use a presentation tool such as google slides to organize the information in a visual to present to classmates.
