This week in Reception, we have been buzzing with excitement as we learned all about bees.

The children explored what bees do for our planet, their life cycle, and the different roles within a hive. Did you know that bees communicate through dance? We are also very excited to be spending our last day of the half term all together at Bocketts Farm!

PE day for Reception Class is on Mondays 

KS1 have been learning all about how to draw their own self portraits and the results have been nothing short of amazing. The children carefully studied their features, thought about shapes, colours and proportions, and took such pride in their work. We were genuinely astonished by how closely each finished portrait resembled the child who created it. It was a wonderful blend of creativity, observation and growing artistic confidence and the children were so proud to share their masterpieces.

PE days for Year 1 & Year 2 are on Mondays and Wednesdays 

As part of their topic lesson, the children have been learning about why the River Nile was so important to Ancient Egypt and why the 5^th century Greek historian Herodotus called Ancient Egypt 'the gift of the Nile.'

They were tasked with presenting the key reasons why the Nile was so vital to the Ancient Egyptians through drawings and research which they presented beautifully. Well done everyone!

PE days for Year 3 & Year 4 are Tuesdays & Thursdays 

On Monday, Year 5 and 6 visited Holy Trinity Church, as part of our unit - How did the Church begin and where is it now? One volunteer spoke about her work of the Prison Chaplaincy and the children all listened beautifully and asked very mature and thoughtful questions. In groups, they completed a variety of activities to explore what it means to be ‘Church’ in today’s world, reflecting on compassion, support, and serving others.

Swimming Lessons for Year 5 & 6

PE days for Year 5 & Year 6 are Thursdays and Fridays. All children will need to wear PE kits on Tuesdays after half term for swimming.

Messages for individual classes, trip information, newsletters and whole school alerts will continue to go out on MCAS

Messages to individual parents e.g. Pupil Accident Form, meetings with staff, individual payment chasers etc. will be sent out via email from parents@sandfield.surrey.sch.uk
