The Reign of Terror was a period where life in France was extreme. The National Assembly was now lead by radicals. One of them was a man called Maximilien Robespierre. Robespierre believed that to protect the movement the opposition must be removed. Many people were arrested and killed by the guillotine. The guillotine was a key object in the Reign of Terror. A majority of the victims were mainly moderates and some radicals. Many of the earlier revolutionist were either dead or had fled the Terror.
