My portfolio offers specific points of growth for me during my journey in HIST 403B. My journey begins with my first notebook entries and my feelings of apprehension and anxiety as I delved into a completely new field of study. Secondly, our trip to the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) in Long Beach gave me a better insight into a culture that was mostly foreign to me. Thirdly, our walking tour with Manny Escamilla allowed me to experience the City of Santa Ana in person, rather than through the window of a car. Fourthly, my submission for our individual work plan gave structure and organization to a previously unknown topic. Fifthly, my visit to the mural that I was researching provided me with a strong foundation for tackling the rest of my research. Sixthly, the framing introduction tied all of the theories that we had been learning together and gave them a practical use and outcome. Seventhly, the finalized website project came together after numerous hours contributed by my group, the Mapping Arts Website Group, led by Mariana Bruno. And finally, my last notebook entires serve to show how far I have come in my digital humanities journey and to highlight the importance of the digital humanities.
