Currently, there is a particular student who will be a returning student this school year who has pretty bad attendance. I believe she missed approximately 16 days of school with 3 tardies. At my school, students are only given 10 days to miss all year, and once they go over that 10 day threshold, they are subject to removal from my program. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Spring, that last thing on anyone's mind was attendance, and thus, this particular student will be in my program this coming school year. The vast majority of her absences have been due to reported sickness.

In the past year, there has been an issue with my students where they will sign up to join one of our CTSOs (Career and Technical Student Organizations) but will not actively participate with the organization through fund raisers, competitions, organization outings, etc. I noticed that often times students were signing up, and then immediately following, neglected to keep up with the organization and attend any meetings.

In the past year, I noticed that many of my students did not want to participate in our CTSO offerings even at my insistence that joining would offer them many, many benefits. Students made arguments such as they were already too busy, the organizations cost too much, and they didn't know much about the organizations (even after multiple presentations).

Currently, in my building there a severe disconnect between our in-person teachers and our 2 remote learning teachers. The reason for this disconnect is the fact that the work load for in-person teachers has increased exponentially, while the work load for remote teachers has decreased exponentially. Many teachers do not feel the expectations for in-person teaching/virtual teaching are attainable, while the expectations for remote teachers are to simply make daily contact with 10-15 students and contact parents when they do not complete their assignments. While on the flipside, in-person teachers are required to record, edit, and post all lectures. Make all in-class assignments/activities virtual, assign and grade ALL work for in-person/virtual/remote learners, answer all questions from in-person/virtual/remote students, and much more.
