He was always very close to 2 brothers but not to his father. Michael didn't like calling his father dad because, it hurt him. When he was young they didn't have a stable home to live in nor stayed in the same school for long periods at a time.

One day a coach for a  AAU team that one of the kids played on came up to his door and tried convincing his mom to let him play.
