- Owl monkeys use a variety of communication techniques, including chemical signaling and scent marking. Also, they engage in a practice called as "urine washing," when they urinate on their hands, feet, and as they walk over trees, creating a scented path in their trail.
- Owl monkeys are social creatures that live in small, close-knit groups of two to five people, with one adult of each sex and young of different ages. They state that relationships between spouses with at least one good reproductive result lasted for an average of 9 to 10 years.
- When certain owl monkeys are not social, a unique set of difficulties arise. Owl monkeys may or may not socialize, depending on the situation, for a variety of reasons. Given some factors, such as housing restrictions or population demographics, it can be difficult to participate in typical social interactions.
