As the story plays out, the songs get more meaningful and reflect more and more on Gatsby's emotions. Music is used throughout the story to set the mood of the story. This is the exact same situation that Gatsby is in. Daisy is with Tom and he will always love her and be there for her. This sets a longing for love type mood and also sets a sad mood as the main person of this song is loving a person that is taken.

This song gives a reminiscent and hopeful mood as the song talks about love and how he used to feel. This song relates to "Beale Street Blues" by giving the same mood and feeling of Gatsby looking back on how he felt and how he now currently feels for Daisy.

This shows exactly what Gatsby is going through. He loves Daisy so much that he moved across from her and loved her for all those years, yet she breaks his heart by marrying Tom and loving him. This gives the mood of hopeful but it also has a mood of sad and heartbreak as the person she is talking about is breaking her heart.
