Growing up, I lived in one of those segregated neighborhoods mentioned in the text. The impact from then to now can be seen in the way that my neighborhood still looks. One of the terms that stood out to me, "herding black people into ghettos", is so accurate to what it feels like has happened to everyone there. I feel that it brings me back to a poem I wrote about my neighborhood a few years ago. The physical look of my neighborhood shows the historical trauma that we faced because of the de jure segregation of St. Louis. People of color have been experiencing this segregation since the 1940's and it is sad that we are still living like this many decades later. ]]> 2021-10-28 23:22:22 UTC https://padlet.com/anj3m41/alcpov7w0kzjtg6t/wish/1852551808 Group 5 Reflections https://padlet.com/anj3m41/alcpov7w0kzjtg6t/wish/1852560695 - its crazy that the law is essentially saying we shouldn't have to fix what we created...Chief Justice Kennedy is basically saying we couldn't fix issues around segregation because it was something that was going to happen anyway, therefore we shouldn't use the law. 

- We need the law to intervene and make right what the laws have caused because who's to say that Black and white people wouldn't make different social decisions if the laws were different. And so now, policy makers can say that segregation are matters of individual decision rather than consider how those decisions are shaped by public policy.
