I am king James I and I am the first puritan king who took over after the Great Queen Elizabeth. I was the first king of England to translate the Bible into English calling it the king James Bible. I was honored as the namesake for the new English settlement in our newly acquired land of America. We named it Jamestown.

Charles I (1625-1649)

I am king Charles I and I believe in the divine right of kings so the issues with parliament over taxation, religion, and governance continued. I had dissolved the governed body multiple times without their permission multiple times. Since I had conflict with it, it resulted in the English civil war in 1642 where the royalists and I fought against Oliver Cromwell and the roundheads.

Oliver Cromwell (1649-1658)

I am Oliver Cromwell, I am a puritan army general and I emerged as a military leader during the English civil war. Because of my success in the civil war I was crowned the "Lord Protector" and ruled England until I died in 1658. During my reign I changed the government of England by abolishing the monarchy and establishing the commonwealth.

Charles II (1658-1685)

I and King Charles II, Oliver Cromwell had exiled me during his reign because I am King Charles I's son so I was seen as a treat to the throne. Once Oliver Cromwell had died I returned to England and became king, once I had become king I restored the monarchy and began the time period known as the restoration. During my reign I sought to heal the wounds left by the civil war by pursuing a policy of religious tolerance in a document called the Declaration of Indulgence.

I am King James II I am the Roman Catholic brother of Charles II, Charles II had 12 “illegitimate” children so I would be the last Roman Catholic King of England, Ireland, and Scotland. Since I am a Catholic and England was mostly Protestant they were upset that they had a Catholic king again and because of this I faced many challenges regarding religion during my reign. Because of the challenges with religion and many others I was peacefully overthrown and my reign as king of England ended.

William And Marry (1688-1702)

We are William and Marry, I Marry the daughter of King James II but I was raised Protestant unlike my father, I married my 1st cousin William of Orange - a Protestant Dutch Prince. When parliament completed the overthrow of King James II they asked us to rule jointly as a Protestant alternative. Our rule begins the Constitutional Monarchy in England by agreeing to govern in accordance with the laws and decisions of Parliament.
