Positive Reinforcement with stamp cards

We use stamp cards in class for whole class and individual positive reinforcement (purchased from Amazon). When students receive all of their "stamps" (hole punches) they get a choice of prize box, ipad time, or bag of chips. Every time we stamp their card we give specific feedback on what they were doing that earned a stamp. We cut them down for some students who need to work on smaller increments of reinforcement. You could also purchase hole punchers that punch in specific shapes such as stars or hearts (also available on Amazon) so as to ensure that students are not just giving themselves stamps.

We use visuals in class to show what the expectations are throughout the day. We ask students to identify the things that show us they are ready to learn. We always wait for student to show us they are ready to learn before starting instruction.

Reflective think it over w/ visuals

Much like the reflective questions, this is used after an incident to help the child have an investment in reflecting on and changing behaviors. The angrier we are, the less our brain is working, so the visuals help even students who are verbal.

The use of a visual schedule helps frontload the expectations for the day. Having removable icons can also lower the possibility of students being overwhelmed by the quantity of expectations.

When you see a "wow" behavior, have students pick a square and sign their name. At the end of the week, draw (or use Wheel of Names) to pick multiple squares for a prize.

Play music during transitions

Consistent morning check in meetings. The meetings are not lengthy, just enough to say good morning, go over what the day has in store in terms of our schedule (also written on the whiteboard) and just chit chat for a bit. These morning meetings have impacted our class in positive ways, and have increased a sense of community.

Bucket

My class has a bucket that says 'we are bucket fillers' and when everyone is following directions first time asked, or get a compliment from another they get a drop in the bucket. When it's full they get a prize. (extra recess, movie party, donut party, etc.)

I periodically recognize students with a point on the board when they answer a question correctly, complete a task or demonstrate an excellent example of respect or responsibility. Students can earn a max of 10 points per week. Two students per intervention group win a raffle on Friday.

i count down from 5, when i get to 0 everyone has to have a bubble in their mouth and sitting quietly.

Calling students' adults with positive comments is great. And the calls don't have to be packed with tons of compliments, one is perfect. For instance, I called a dad last week because their child refused to join in some bullying of another student and then checked on the student. The student was so happy I called Dad and Dad was bursting with pride. Win Win!

When all students are on task, listening, working in groups, following rules they get a star or more. The goal is to fill up the jar and as a class we will pick a price (pizza party, ice cream party, extra recess, etc)
