An aeroponic system is by far the most efficient plant-growing system for vertical farms, using up to 90% less water than even the most efficient hydroponic systems. Plants grown in these aeroponic systems have also been shown to uptake more minerals and vitamins, making the plants healthier and potentially more nutritious.</div><div> </div><div><strong><mark>Aquaponics</mark></strong></div><div> </div><div>An aquaponic system takes the hydroponic system one step further, combining plants and fish in the same ecosystem. Fish are grown in indoor ponds, producing nutrient-rich waste that is used as a feed source for the plants in the vertical farm. The plants, in turn, filter and purify the waste water, which is recycled to the fish ponds.</div><div> </div><div>Although aquaponics is used in smaller-scale vertical farming systems, most commercial vertical farm systems focus on producing only a few fast-growing vegetable crops and don’t include an aquaponics component. (Nutrient Film Technology)</mark></strong></div><div> </div><div>NFT hydroponic systems, otherwise known as Nutrient Film Technique, are yet another very efficient way of farming large numbers of plants in a confined area such as garages and rather small green houses.Nutrient Film Technique, or NFT, is a popular and versatile hydroponics system. It is similar to Ebb and Flow in that the system uses a pump to deliver fertilized water to the grow tray and a drain pipe to recycle the unused nutrient solution. The difference is that in NFT the nutrient solution is continuously flowing over the roots. This is accomplished using gravity. The grow tray is placed at an angle to allow the water to flow down towards the drainpipe, and a new solution is constantly being pumped into the high end of the tube. NFT is an active system, meaning it relies on moving parts to work.</div><div> </div><div><mark>I. Advantages of NFT:</mark></div><ul><li>Lower water and nutrient consumption</li><li>Avoids the supply, disposal and cost problems associated with media based systems.</li><li>Relatively easy to disinfect roots and hardware compared to other system types.</li><li>The absence of medium makes it easy to inspect roots for signs of disease, feed adequacy.</li><li>Regular feeding (and associated flushing) prevents localized salt build-up in the root zone and maintains uniform root zone pH and conductivity.</li><li>Environmentally friendly - minimal potential for localized groundwater contamination.</li></ul><div><mark> II. Disadvantages of NFT</mark></div><ul><li>Pump failure can result in plant death within a few hours, especially in hot weather.</li><li>Not suitable for plants with large tap-root systems (e.g. carrots).</li><li>Compared to run-to-waste systems, it is less suitable for saline (salty) waters because the salinity of the recirculating water gradually increases.</li></ul><div> </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Drip systems are one of the most widely used types of hydroponic systems around the world, both for home growers as well as commercial growers alike. That's mainly because it's an easy concept and needs few parts, but yet it's a very versatile and effective type of hydroponic system. The way a drip system works is just like it sounds, its simply drip nutrient solution on the plants roots to keep them moist. Hydroponic drip systems can easily be designed in many ways, as well as from small to large systems. But their especially useful for larger plants that take a lot of root space. That's because you don't need large volumes of water to flood the system, and the drip lines are easy to run over longer spaces. As well as when using a larger amount of growing media for larger plants, more growing media  retains more moisture than smaller amounts, and that's particularly beneficial to large plants because it's more forgiving to the plants. Fiber Glass is also dimensionally stable, unlike poly which is subject to instability especially in situations of large temp variations. In addition, it is infinitely repairable.
