Bradstreet accepts that her house is gone because it was not her house it is God’s house
- This relates to a Puritan belief that everything on earth belongs to God

Anne Bradstreet would easily be considered one of the leaders of puritans in the sense that she prizes her own possessions and love more than money and value, a good example of this is in her poem “To My Dear And Loving Husband” when she said I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold,”. This when examined by most humans could easily be determined that Bradstreet prizes love over money. This directly relates with the basic Puritan thought of love over anything, once again showing my point.

Another characteristic that would easily make Anne Bradstreet a Puritan is the fact that she accepts god’s fate. One huge characteristic of puritans is that they understand that everything that happens is part of god’s plan or god’s intentions, so when her house burned down in “On the Burning of My House” Anne almost accepts it to the point where her house can be considered god’s house, this makes evident proof that Bradstreet is a Puritan.

In “My Dear and Loveing Husband” Anne Bradstreet uses references to riches and gold and how little they mean to her compared to the love of her husband. “In addition to believing in the absolute sovereignty of God, the total depravity of man, and the complete dependence of human beings on divine grace for salvation, they stressed the importance of personal religious experience.” Puritans believed that God is almighty and necessary for salvation. They led modest lives in the hopes for salvation. This is why Bradstreet was not worried about her house burning down. She was not attached to it in a material sense.
