I speak Spanish and that has allowed me to help a large population of Spanish speaking students. Unfortunately we have a small group of Vietnamese students who have no adult on campus that speaks their language. If anyone knows of any good translating apps I would love to pick some of them!

The partnership company I am employed by offers Telephonic Interpreting services for Spanish, Haitian Creole and other languages for our patients and school parents. This helps eliminate the language barrier for our parents and students.

CCDS has given us access to Synergy to access parent information.

We have a great relationship with our school district. I have access to all student/family contacts in our county through our myStudent program.

Crystal Lake Elementary provides our data analysist with the school Master List for parent contact information. Coordinators are then provided with the list to contact parents to assist when needed.

No access to parent information unless we ask directly for specific students. We have in the past asked for a master list of students/contacts but we have a high influx in and out of school and the list is often not correct/updated

We have several staff member that speak different languages we also have someone from out school SBAC that we can call for assistance

Our healthcare partner has a translator live machine. We provide spanish translation of our forms. Also we have teachers who assist with our spanish speaking families.

The best way I've found is to meet the family where they are. I make sure to share how we can help and try to make them feel supported. It's important to be a team to solve the problem.
