Even though I never grew up in a harsh and unexpected environment I really like the theme the poem is telling us which is beautiful things can come from harsh and unexpected places. This poem reminds me that it doesn't matter where somebody comes from it only matters what they do and what they overcome. Tupacs story about a beautiful rose growing from the concrete when nobody cared for it is he is saying that even though it might be challenging and hard to achieve your goal you can do it no matter what situation or challenge you're in.

In this poem he couldn't remember what he was angry at because of how long he held a grudge against someone. He thought about how angry he was about something he can't even remember, he realized that anger isn't something he wants to be in control and that he needs to forgive. This poem makes me feel like it's a cold winter night lonely and dark, then sitting by the fire and just hanging out with family and friends laughing. I say that because at the start of the poem he is lost, on a dark road, where the car is warm but he can feel the cold night outside and all he can see in his headlights is an eternity of nothing. Then he sees a building he doesn't know what it is, but he makes it out. It's a building, with cars and warm cozy lights and this brown-haired girl with the biggest smile, he knows who she is but he doesn't know. He is in a big house, with so many people and spends the night laughing and grinning. and he doesn't know where he is , but he does.

This poem talks about the ending of winter and the blooming of spring. The author writes the poem as if he enjoys winter more than he does spring. He says that April is the "cruellest" month, when the lilacs grow out of dead land and dull roots come with spring rain. Later in the poem the author says that their brother takes them on a sled and to the mountains, where the author says they feel more free and go south in the winter. This poem makes me realize I can see spring/ april differently than I did. The figurative language the author used make me think about the changes from winter to spring. This is a very short poem but talks about how the author took some plums from an icebox that someone the author is related to were going to save for breakfast. The author apologizes and follows with "They were delicious, so sweet and so cold.". This makes me feel how some people can do things and apologize but still sometimes not be forgiven. I feel I have done this before but I have made up for it. This has also been done to me but I don't hold grudges especially if it is not a big deal.

This poem is about being lost in the dark but finding the light. In this poem he is driving on a road and he doesn't know where he going, but he knows where he will end up. While he is driving in the dark warm car, he feels the coldness outside. All he sees is headlights and the outdoors, but he keeps going and eventually sees light. It gets bigger and brighter as he keeps going. It is a warm house with a beautiful song coming through, he doesn't know it but knows all the words. This poem is telling you that just because you are in the dark doesn't mean you won't find the light ahead, keep going and you will eventually find it, even if you feel like you don't know where you are going, you do, or you will.

Another reason this hit me is because some of my cousins were forced to move out of the old house because of gentrification.
