Some very common sense steps as well. I think sometimes we lose sight of what is really good for the school community (teachers, students and the wider community) and we get bogged down with the catch phrase of the day. I then reflected on my relationship with them and how i responded to their leadership. Specifically, they need to utilise the resources around them including the expertise of staff, ensuring that they are guided and empowered in the process. The leader is to act as a backbone support, listening to the voices and perspectives of all staff in order to ensure collaboration as this is the most effective way for the school's vision to be achieved.

Specifically, I found that the "disease of rivalry and vainglory" is very relevant for staff when applying for positions of leadership as it can often become quite selfish as well as the "disease of idolising superiors" in order to benefit themselves.
