The basis of the healthcare profession is slowly changing from the well-being of an individual to the health of a community. This transformation opens the door for an age of relationship building. Relationship building is already important within an organization but now it will be of the upmost importance to build relationships across the entire field of healthcare. These relationships will begin with health promotion and cover everything to intensive care. The skill of relationship building throughout our industry will strengthen not only the continuum of care but also the quality of life of our patients.

Interpersonal skills are very essential for any kind of leader, including healthcare leaders.
These skills are used everyday to communicate with others. Having great interpersonal skills means that you can communicate effectively individually and in a group. Leaders who have this skill are more successful since they are able to work well with others to get their ideas and plans across.

If a leader doesn't have interpersonal skills, they should not be a leader. Interpersonal skills also reflect on their likability. If a leader is not liked, it is hard for others to put trust in them and chances are others will not be as respectful towards the leader either. Even if they are liked, they can still lack interpersonal skills. If they can not effectively communicate in a way that is clear and understandable, they could be lacking in this skill.

Agility is an important competency for Healthcare leaders to possess to assist in transition and rapid change with the Healthcare industry.

It is imperative to foresee future shifts in the market in order to lead their team through these changes swiftly and effectively. Stability within the Healthcare culture is important since it deals with quality of care of our patients and customers. Instead of creating a 5 year plan they look into the more near future in order to quickly identify trends and stay up on the latest needs of the industry so that any changes or unforeseen hurdles can be managed and handled with ease without disrupting quality of care or flow of health care.

How to Rectify your Interpersonal Skills

This is one of the harder skills to fix since it comes from within your personality. Interpersonal skills can be corrected by simply observing how you communicate with others for a short period. Possibly even write it down to see how you are actually communicating with others throughout the whole day. Also take note on your non-verbal communication skills to see how you are carrying yourself in a conversation with another. Also simply asking others on how you can communicate better with others.
