How the World Sees Canada

There are many stereotypes around Canada and us Canadians. A lot of the common beliefs people have are ones that refer to the fact that we are very kind and are always saying "sorry," while others are about the things we have. For example, maple syrup is a big one as well as certain animals like Moose and Beavers. To other countries we may also be stereotyped by the things they think all of us like or take part in. Hockey for instance, is something that many people think we live and breathe but for most, it's not something they have ever even tried. Personally, I like watching hockey, but it is not something I enjoy doing, nor is it something I would join a team for. Us Canadiens have many stereotypes around the things we say and how we say them. As mentioned earlier, we have a reputation for being polite and saying "thank you" and "sorry" consistently. It's not that we don't say those things, it's just we don't usually say them as often as people think we do. Another one is "Eh". Personally, I don't think I have ever heard someone actually say "eh" before in the middle of a conversation, but that may just be me. These are just some of the stereotypes us canadiens have. Some of them are true, but many of them are not. Never the less I think we have a good overall reputation that makes Canada who we are.

How We Think the World Sees Us As

As said in "How the World Sees Canada" there are many stereotypes around us Canadiens and personally, when I think about how the world sees us, that's a big part of what I think comes to their mind when they take a look at who we are as a country. I would like to think that one thing they think about when talking a look at us and our country is our beautiful landscapes and vast green spaces. We are also a temperate rainforest so we have a good climate and beautiful forests. This may not be the first thing that comes to their mind but I feel that some people from less fortunate countries would think about our environment as one of the big factors as to what our country is. I also think others might take into consideration other countries in comparison to ours. For example, if we compare Canada to the United States, I find that some people think we are polar opposites because of the stereotypes around our mannerisms. I find that whenever I am on a trip and people think we are Americans, they treat us differently, then when we tell them we re actually from Canada. They seem to treat us much better once we tell them where we are actually from. This is a big hint as to how the world sees us in comparison to the U. S. In conclusion, I think the world sees Canada as a beautiful country with a great economy and many kind people in it.

When I think about Canada and what It means to me, there are many things that come to mind. One thing I appreciate is how many opportunities I have here. I have unlimited things to try, see, and explore all around me. These help me lead a happy and healthy lifestyle. I am also very grateful for how safe I am here in Canada. The last war us Canadiens have experienced ourselves were the Fenian Raids from 1866 - 1871. From then on, we have had a clean slate with other counties and I believe with how we treat them, we will continue to have that for a very long time. Acceptance is another thing I am very grateful for in Canada. In the past, we have not had the best track record but as of now I feel that we are very accepting in how we treat people and their differences and have learned from our bad behaviours in the past. We now celebrate differences, and use them to make our country a better place. Overall, I believe that Canada is a beautiful place where I have plenty of opportunities, a safe place to live, and acceptance.
