The data presented is sufficient to support the hypothesis that Levitt made. Possible correlation factor: Data of crimes is only those who are caught and charged. Maybe lower proportion of sex-related crimes is because when abortion is made legal, there would be no evidence (if you get what I mean). Or if abortion is legalised, this would indicate higher socioeconomic status, thus leading to less crime. (Possible correlation)

For example, single mothers are people who are more likely to get abortions as they are less likely to be capable of taking care of their children. It could be that these children whom are not paid attention to are more likely to commit crime. Hence, when they are aborted, they do not exist, causing less crime. However, in a societal standpoint, crime is not the only way to measure the success and ongoing development of a country and there might be other societal impacts to consider when legalising abortion.
