The OSLP programme had taught me many things from different aspects from the pas, present and the future of Singapore. For example, a nation's identity and its importance to treasure it as it has a story to tell about Singapore's origin. We also manage to face through challenges that may occur and how we as youth leaders can find a solution and find a common purpose

this program has to be hands down the most enjoyable one I have been throughout my entire schooling life. the activities and workshops put in place has all helped me bond with my fellow watch mates and has overall made me become a better person, a better leader. this program would be one that I look towards as a role model of what a youth camp and overnight program for leaders should look like.

To sum up my experience in 1 word it would be engaging.

On the first day, meeting my watch for the first time, it was like catching up with old friends rather than meeting strangers. The activities such as the night quest at NGS, helped me learn more about Singapore and it's leaders and how they have preserved and made decisions that have helped us today. Learning more about sustainability helped me understand the need to save resources for the future and that every decision we make has an effect. As leaders we must make wise choices so as to benefit our peers who we are leading. Learning about job opportunities helped me understand the constant need to upskill and upgrade myself to be relevant in the work space in the future.

Overall, this camp has taught me many valuable skills that I will definitely use as a leader and has taught me that as a leader, we have a major impact and we should model the way.

Overall, it was an amazing and enriching experience. Being surrounded by like-minded and proactive leaders truly opened my eyes up to the possibilities of our country along with our future. Through this experience, I have truly gained a deeper understanding of the issues we face, along with the different considerations that go into every policy and decision made. I believe that as youths, it is never too young for us to take a stand and fight for causes which we believe in, along with even starting our own organisations.

The most important thing would be that we have to be concerned and aware of these issues and thus not be afraid to take the first step. Only with all of us taking steps and small actions in our daily lives will there be a huge impact created in the community.

This camp gave me so much and I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with peers along with to have such valuable and exclusive experiences.

Attending the OSLP camp was truly a life-changing experience for me. Going into it, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I came out with a renewed sense of purpose and direction. The camp wasn’t just about leadership skills—it was about discovering who I truly am and what I can contribute to the world around me.

The sessions were not only educational but deeply inspiring. I learned about the power of collaboration, the importance of resilience, and the value of empathy in leadership. Through personal reflection exercises and group discussions, I was able to confront my own challenges and fears, and gain the confidence to tackle them head-on.

The friendships I made during the camp have also had a profound impact on me. Being surrounded by so many driven and passionate individuals made me realize the strength that comes from a supportive community. We shared our stories, learned from each other’s experiences, and, most importantly, encouraged one another to be the best versions of ourselves.

The activities were very engaging, with the facilitators doing an extremely good job in conveying the valuable knowledge as well as passing on their experience. The made learning very fun and interesting. The well planned camp made it not too strenuous and easy to absorb knowledge. The facilities helped and made the camp so much better!

I felt that it would just take up my holidays that I could be using to relax and enjoy myself. However, I was very wrong. These past 3 days (at the time I'm writing this) was very insightful and I honestly learnt so much from my watchmates. They are such incredible leaders and it's a very humbling and eye-opening experience to see their skills and capabilities. At first,I was so scared of everyone because I didn't know everyone especially when on the first day I've arrived,I had to bring the food bento that has been distributed to the watches ,and I eat it inside of the toilet due to my introvert and fear of unknown people. But when I am put on my watch group, it was very fun camp which was my first time .

In all honesty, this camp was nothing that I expected in the best ways possible! I never would have imagined being able to make so many new friends in the span of a few days and I have the (A)TMs & the OSLP organising committee to thank 🫶🔥. I managed to gain so many new perspectives and lessons here which made me see the world/Singapore in a new light and some main takeaways would be: (1) Challenges are inevitable and nothing is as simple as it seems. (2) Vulnerability makes us human and this is something that AI can never replace. (3) It is important to be forward-thinking, but still take time to live in the present! Thank you to everyone I've met here for all the memories and for helping me (re)discover these valuable lessons! All the best in your future endeavours everyone💪💪.

Most memorable memory was the table-top defence exercise! It really let me discussed so so fruitfully. Allowing me to really put myself in the shoes of the people living during the flash flood and the members of community and how they felt about the situation really brought this whole scenario to life. This was the perfect example to teach students about how important it is to be in a community.

Another memory was the card game in day 3 at the hotel. At first, i was trying to understand the aim of the game and all and i really couldn't grasp the purpose of this game and what it was meant to teach us. So thoughout the game, i played it as a game and not as a lesson. However, when the guy on stage explained why the game was like that and what it was supposed to teach us, i finally understood, i was not supposed to be given clear instructions and meant to use what i have and make the most out of it.

I think that the places we went each day gave me insights on very new areas and aspects that I never explored like the maritime industry. It was really interesting to learn about the rational and many many considerations behind the initiatives that the relevant industries push out, and how they have to balance everything like what we experienced in the card game (economy, environment, cohesion, health). I really enjoyed listening to everyone’s reflections and the different experiences that everyone had although we experienced the same activities. It also made me very grateful and inspired about what the past leaders have done to build singapore and at the same time very hopeful for the future! 🤩

(and the food is amazing 😋)

Initially, I was apprehensive of the camp. I feel very blessed to have such an open watch who were all able to help me ease into the programme which helped learn much more than I could ever expect from this camp. My eyes have been opened and I am now more understanding of the various aspects of Singapore that the camp brought us to. At its core, I am thoroughly reminded of how we are all able to effect change now.

Day 1: I feel that I learned that diveristy is core to singapore. A big problem in resolving controversies is how every person has diffrrent ideas on each topic. For example, the controversy game, my watch all initially disagreed on if racist jokes are acceptable. I learned that some people may not even view certain controversies amd controversial. We need to all communicate openly and honestly, not actively seek to take or give offence, in order to resolve such issues.

Day 2: Global warmimg/climate change is the next big thing facing humanity. This day's activities helped me realise how there is many things we can do now to help. Singapore as a nation is already taking numerous steps towards achieveing sustainability, from extremely detailed land use planning of our parks by URA, aided by NParks, to application of sciences to minimise our carbon emissions. It has reminded me that if such large actions cam be taken for Singapore, we individuals can morw easily take our own small actions to hell achieve sustainability. We can always raise awareness, advocate and take action to help battle climate change

Day 3: Economy is something I never really pondered until today. Despite being a small country, Singapore maximises on every small leverage we have, such as being an entrepot country, Singapore takes advantage of our strategic geographical location tk attract more imports to enhance our income from exports. It has also changed my view of the future where we may be taking things for granted. We need to prepare ourselves and be ready amd able to communicate amd coorperate with one another in order to overcome future threats.

Thank you so much for this opportunity!

Having signed up for this event initially, I expected it to be our everyday school camp with campfire songs and group cheers. Well I guess that statement is half right.

Prior to the camp, my expectations of it was an uptight camp filled with nothing but our standard workshops and team bonding games. But contrary to my expectations, it was a really chill camp with a relaxing atmosphere with the most welcoming and interactive Watch. From our TM/ATMS to our watch-mates, everyone was so excited about the camp (especially Leon we love u).

The workshops and talks over these past 4 days have been a really good eye opener to help us young leaders discover our passion, as well as prepare us for skills and issues we would face in the future. If not OSLP then who?

And by today (day 3), we all had grown to work with and around each other, forging a bond with each other like no other 😎😎

Ok so ya Watch 1-2 twelve the best.

Initially, I was doubtful when told that OSLP was an opportunity for fun and learning, but I am glad to say that I was proven wrong! The entirety of the programme can be summed up by three words: excitement, exploration and enthusiasm. Along with Watch 12, I journeyed through the workshops on multiculturalism, sustainability and employment, which widened my perspectives on Singaporean issues. I was enlightened to learn more about problems within our society, and how we, as young leaders, can take charge and enact positive change. The facilitators shared their experiences, most of which were invaluable, providing exclusive insights on different areas. I distinctly remember a quote that a speaker shared: "You grow through what you go through." It resonated with me and is something I'll carry with me for a long time. I also particularly enjoyed the workshop on multiculturalism, as we had a chance to share our opposing views on controversial topics. It was opportunities like that, that made the camp worthwhile! Finally, a huge word of appreciation and love to Watch 12 and our TMs: Ya Hui, Leon and Leticia. Your passion and kindness made this camp the perfect experience! #12Cupcakes❤️🧁

My overall experience here at OSLP was a fruitful and memorable one. The opportunities given here to grow and develop as a leader to see Singapore in a different point of view through various dialogues and learning journeys. The 'insider experience' was the best and unique way to help visualise various aspects of Singapore. Learning more on sustainability, this will allow me to incorporate what I learnt from this camp into the classroom and help nurture the minds of future leaders (my juniors) through humanities/student council. Forging friendships with the many nice participants and mentors through this moving-based camp.

Sebastian Chua

Cloud 9 (Watch 9)

I feel that this camp is really the best camp i have attended out of all the leadership camps i have attended out of all leadership camps i have in secondary school life. This camp really brings the leaders together, and everyone is so active i love this kind of atmosphere. like in secondary school leadership camps they are all shy, they dont want to initiate cheers and compete friendly with others. i feel to have a watch that have a same mindset is very important to have a enjoyable camp. Like our ideas will collide with each other unknowingly, and its so touching to see how we have a group of people that understands where we are coming from without further prompts. Its so touching to see how people can connect so fast, i think its just because we are leaders. I really enjoy every part of the camp, honestly i wont mind coming back or having it for one week. I love the people here, thank you for the experince!!!

It really exceeded my expectations of what this camp was going to be, as everyone was really really unbelievably nice it's almost uncanny. It was truly the first time I have ever went to a programme full of strangers and probably leave with relationships closer than I would ever think we would have. I also cannot mention how amazing the activities were, with wonderful professionals to give us insightful talks and games that we could fully immersed ourselves in. It was a wonderful way to impart takeaways on all of s. And of course the food was really amazing 🤩 🤩 never have been fed this well for a camp with such high quality food :)) thank you so much NYC and NACLI for giving all of us such a wonderful experience 🙏 🙏

OSLP is truly a camp worth giving your all to. Imparting invaluable lessons and takeaways, connecting us with unique yet like-minded leaders, and engaging us in crazily fun activities, this camp ihas bestowed upon us incredibly honourable opportunities to learn and grow. In the same way Singapore historically puts in effort into planning its long term success, I am forever grateful to OSLP for taking the chance to invest in each and every one of us, bringing together an unforgettable batch of leaders that share a burning passion to grow alongside each other, and make a lasting impact on Singapore. Last but not least, I really really want to thank all the other leaders in this camp OSLP 2024. To each and every one of you I've reconnected with from other events, or randomly walked up and said "hi" to, or introduced to via the various Icebreakers, the energy at this camp is like no other - together mutually understanding how we can make a new norm, and create safe and fun spaces for everyone no matter who, what, when, where, how, or why - Thank You to all of you, and I wholeheartedly believe somewhere down the line we will all connect with each other again. Until then, THANK YOU OSLPPP!! 😆😆

When I got to know about OSLP I was overly excited to just sleep at the National Gallery Singapore, Maritime Gallery and also at Jewel Changi. Although it was fun to sleep there, I mostly enjoyed my time with my watch mates and as an entire watch from 1-12 all representing the schools at Singapore. I remembered stepping into NACLI being nervous and not knowing what to expect but many people here were so welcoming to me and I felt at ease. With each passing day and activity, it really opened my eyes to what goes behind the scenes in Singapore.

On my first day, I learned more about multiculturalism and how important it is for everyone to get together and and understand each other from different perspectives. On my second day, I went to Semb corp where I learned more about the floating solar panels and how effective it is for our country. On my third day, I learned that working with others from different sectors is important and how ones decisions can affect others.

Nearing to the last day of OSLP, I am really thankful to be the one chosen out of the many in my school and to go on and experience these activities with other people from different schools in Singapore and I feel like all of us really deserved to be here and from these experiences we as future leader of Singapore can influence others in our circle to grown together as one nation. To my watch 12/12 cupcakes, I couldn’t ask for a better watch than you guys and I truly enjoy the days and nights being together with you guys, I hope we don’t forget each other and continue keeping in touch, I have learned so much from you guys and what you have experienced in your schools. And with that I’ll end my long essay/message and hope we can enjoy our last day together!!

This was one of the most impactful quotes that struck me, reminding me not to wait for the ‘perfect’ moment to take action. Not only that, this quote also emphasises the importance of taking initiative. Instead of relying on others, we should be courageous, take the plunge and be the change we want to see. As leaders, we should make decisions that we stand by, and these decisions may not always be the most popular. Through OSLP, I have forged new friendships, and managed to exchange perspectives with different student leaders. All in all, OSLP was an eye-opening experience!

OSLP has been tiring, exhausting yet the most amazing and enlightening experiences I have had yet! I'm extremely grateful for all the experiences OSLP has provided me, providing me with enlightenment and enriching me with knowledge. One example is the talks we had on Day 3, when Ms Ee Ling mentioned, "You grow through what you go through". This statement stuck with me ever since, and I realised how important it is to not only chase new experiences, but also take into consideration, "What problems do I want to solve in the future?", when making career decisions. From a fixed mindset that I should only base off my career choices on money only, to a growth mindset that I should broaden my experiences to explore the different types of job opportunities out there. All about the looking that the bigger picture! Furthermore, the fieldtrip I attended on Day 2 served not only as a way for me to learn more about sustainability but also a getaway - A getaway from the hustle and bustle from busy life!

Another thing that I will hold close to my heart for sure, is the memories and friendships made during OSLP. When I first arrived, everyone was superrrr sociable! I could sneak myself into a table of fellow leaders and they would welcome me warmly. Hence, I was able to quickly forge bonds and friendships within my Watch and the vibes were always immaculate. I enjoyed every moment of the camp with my Watch, especially the time we spent together in the Jewel (net playground??)! We've been through thick and thin together and throughout the camp, I've seen not only myself but others grow! I'm sure many years down the road, the leaders that I once laughed with in OSLP 2024, will achieve great heights and become the next generation of leaders in Singapore.

Thank you for making my OSLP such a memorable experience

! 😆

The skilled Team Mentors as well as Organisers from the National Youth Council (NYC) and the National Community Leadership Institute (NACLI) have enriched and substantiated my leadership experience and journey with many relevant and useful lessons and engagements. This coupled with the chance to meet and work with high caliber youth leaders from different backgrounds and schools produces complex, interesting and unique conversations and discussions that could only be found in OSLP.

Things like sustainability and work in the future are very calculated and precise and allowed me to gain a new found appreciation for the work the gov does. I hope that I can use whatever I learned in the future, whether it be in next schooling endeavours or with my family and friends. Thank you OSLP!

OSLP offered a home i never knew existed, and was capable of developing the 11 members and our mentors through collective lessons, good food, and the deep discussions and reflections we got daily. With Resonant and Multi-faceted key themes that were applicable to our country, each day offered a fresh outlook and perspective of our ever-changing world via enjoyable and thoughtful activities. Learning core values through various discussions, taking a night to appreciate the many amazing infrastructure and facilities in our beloved country, or even taking part in awesome and fun workshops, built for the youth leaders to learn and participate, OSLP has been an integral part of my leadership journey and i’m extremely thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing program.

When I was first nominated to attend the programme, I was very nervous and scared to attend knowing that I was the only person from my school. The past 3 days have been nothing short of memorable and insightful. I'm really grateful for the different and unique experiences that I've been through OSLP such as visiting the various galleries and hand-ons experiences, as well as the people I've met throughout my OSLP journey, my watchmates, mentors and various other participants I randomly met and struck up a conversation with. It's been really cool for me to be able to meet someone from every school becahse we have such different backgrounds so I feel I've really learnt a lot.

The various talks by ministers and guests have also been very inspiring for me, and probed me to think more about my own journey as a leader. It made me realise that there are so many sectors I can potentially work in and I'm thinking now about what I truly want to do. It's been a very meaningful and once in a lifetime experienfe for me.

From the OSLP, communication and connectivity is something I realised is very important. I believe the foundation of any successful project is proper communication between the parties involved. Without voicing out your ideals coherently to others, how can you expect it to work out like you imagined.

In my opinion, a leader leads by example. I quote from my school OPSS’s Student Council, “To lead and to serve” . Telling people what to do may not be effective as everyone have different interpretations of what you want. By showing people what you want through your own action, it will be easier to lead others. I think Learning is for Life, even beyond school compounds. I plan on bringing back what I learned on the 4 themes to my juniors in the secondary school I graduated from.

Through this I am able to reflect on my career choice in order to fulfill both my interest as well as a job that helps Singapore. I also learnt that even a small idea is able to spark the start of an organisation or a business that helps the nation. As youths we should not stop ourselves from making this small idea into an important contribution to Singapore. I am also really grateful to my watch-mates since they have been with me every step of the way and the bond we have built is stronger than ever even through we have just met for 4 days. Although many of us kept to ourselves during day 1, we quickly evolved to becoming laugh and discussion buddies by the end of day 3. This is something i truly would never forget. Most memorable experience that I would want to relive is staying up till 4am at jewel ichangi experience with random batchmates from other watches that joined our laughters and shared meaningful personal memories. While this entire course had its ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade it for anything else ❤️

OSLP has been an eye-opener for me in multiple ways. One particular way that stood out to me was OSLP has been a programme that has let us student leaders with different backgrounds come together with the same mindset and goal. Here at OSLP, all of us strive to do our best and serve our community with everything we got, OSLP has been a backbone in strengthening and improving our methods/ways to serve.

For many others, OSLP has also been a hub to job opportunities. While it doesn’t apply to me (as i have a specific job in mind already), the tips given to us by speakers and things said during dialogs were very helpful no matter what context you put it in.

Lastly, I’m very grateful that i was able to join this programme which allowed me to meet my amazing watch mates!

OSLP has been a wakeup call for me, in the sense that I am struck with the fact that I have much much more to learn to become a better leader. Surrounded by youth leaders from so many schools, I noticed how I have something to learn from each and everyone of us, be it public speaking, resilience, courage, critical thinking, etc.

(My highlights) The CRC listening skills taught me how to become a more empathetic listener to make those around me few heard. The conversations on multiculturalism also made me more comfortable with discussing "uncomfortable" topics. The game on Day 3 forced us to think deeper about how governments make decisions in reality. All in all, the passion that our mentors and my teammates displayed really inspired me to kindle that fire in me that could have been waning.

Looking forward, I will be more intentional in developing my passion and be more curious in what I am learning. I am very thankful to OSLP, my watchmates and our TMs for giving me such a week of a lifetime :)

On the other hand, I was eager to learn from other youth leaders and understand how they think effectively. After participating in OSLP, not only did I gain more knowledge, but I also came to realise that I'm far from being at the bottom and grown into one of the best leaders. This experience has reignited my passion for continuing as a student leader. This OLSP will forever be etched in my mind. Thank you for this program.

My experience at OSLP was very heartening as each and every single person was very welcoming, sweet and all eager to learn. I think what really united us as this years OSLP cohort was our immense energy and enthusiasm towards learning about Singapore and how we can all play apart in contributing to Singapore’s future. I learnt that what really matters in today’s BANI world is Singaporean’s hearts and attitudes we take towards how we want to invest our time, effort and resources into the future of our country. It hit me that it has to start with us! A quote that Mr Lucas Lee, the senior manager of CAG, said was “If not you, then who?” Through the past 4 days, I learnt the weight of the responsibility and values that we as future leaders must carry if we want our future generations to live in a sustainable and prosperous society. In addition, I am incredibly grateful for my watch as we got along really well

OSLP helped me gain a broader perspective and view on many different things such as multiculturalism as everyone in my watch calmed form a different background hence we all have different experiences and perspectives, OSLp gave us an opportunity to exchange perspectives and be more open to different opinions. Furthermore, OSLP also made me realise how important and urgent it is for us youth leaders to actually start doing something to ensure that our future generations have a Singapore to thrive in as i often take what we have for granted and although during such leadership programmes we might say that we want to do something for Singapore but after the programme, most of us if not all will just go back to our own lifes and not doing anything. However OSLP’s programmes, for example, the game hosted by the future of work, the emcee said that the scenarios they gave us is something that might actually happen to Singapore in 2040, this makes me worried and motivates me to actually want to do something to help mitigate or reduce the harms of future crises by preparing our citizens through many different ways, additionally the Long Island programme also provides me with the same sense of urgency as to ensure future generations have a stable Singapore to thrive in, we must start planning our future and take actions now. Hence OSLP motivates me to want to make a change in Singapore

To start off, I am grouped and got to know amazing and extraordinary individuals in my group who are open minded and caring. I was able to share my opinions and thoughts knowing that I wouldn’t be judged by my group mates. They are always not afraid to be honest and share their perspectives while still being respectful and considerate about other’s feelings. Secondly, the activities planned were beneficial in teaching us in depth more about Singapore and what we can do as Singaporeans to safeguard and protect this island that we call home. Through such means, I believe that we can assist each other in nuancing our stances or finding new justifications to strengthen our understanding & appreciation of certain societal issues.

Alongside this, I believe this camp has served us in good stead to re-envision and redefine, on our own terms, how we can contribute to the nation within our capacities. The discussions and various talks have made us more cognisant not only of the problems that plague Singapore in the status quo/the future, but also encouraged us to go beyond understanding the issues and to take actions in the form of small steps. I truly appreciated the way this camp was structured to allow for a progressive build-up of understanding, as well as the intentionality behind connecting specific case-studies into a macro-perspective.

Last but most definitely not least, I’m extremely grateful to have been given this opportunity to connect with peers with such valuable insights and experiences. In particular, my watch mates have left a lasting impression of me across the past few days as I witnessed the sheer sincerity they possess and their true hearts of service for the larger community. Special thanks to our (A)TMs Si Qi, Deniz & Christian for helping to facilitate our discussions and break the initial ice between us too! I’ll miss everyone 🙂

OSLP has been an eye-opening experience for me. I love how a micro and macro-perspective was adopted for this camp. For macro view, we were exposed to the incredible depth that is taken into account for every policy implemented into sg, this was evident for me during the long island talk, seeing the detailed drafts and consideration taught how resilient and persistent sg is. For a micro view, it was amazing to see how impt creating the safe space for sensitive topics was, this really allowed everyone to be open and vocal about their points. This camp also brought out the significance of being an empathetic leader, one that is humanised and understanding of us. Overall, the people, mentors, facils and energy was unlike any camp.

OSLP has been nothing short of eye opening. Be it the late night introspective reflections, to the immersive night quests, the learning journeys or the panel discussions, I thoroughly every single portion of the event and learnt so much from it! As youths in a school, were more often than not trapped in a bubble, with similar thoughts and opinions. Coming to this programme really enlightened me of the different national perspectives that everyone harboured, and I think that made for really healthy discourse!

On a personal level, I realised that we have such big shoes to fill! As what MOS Alvin Tan mentioned, Singapore has “nothing”, yet our forefathers made that nothing into something. As they pass the baton to our generation soon, us youths must be prepared, and have the commitment to serve in whatever capacity we are in

A huge shoutout to our TMs and ATMs Si Qi, Deniz and Christian for making this experience all the much better!

OSLP will be a key highlight of my secondary school life and I’m sure a few years down the road, I’ll look back on this fondly 🫡🥲

The past four days of OSLP have been an eye opening experience for me. As I’ve always been interested in the sciences and history, I’ve always assumed that I wouldn’t be able to contribute to Singapore’s developments in the future beyond being a researcher, doctor or historian. However, OSLP has allowed me to not only realise that I have other options to make a greater contribution in those fields but also see real life examples of how I could contribute to those fields.

Through the camp I’ve also gained a greater understanding of what potential issues Singapore could be met with in the future in the face of climate change and the volatile relationships between nations. Being able to see just how difficult life could become in Singapore if we stop striving to maintain and develop our nation is definitely a strong motivator in wanting to step up and contribute.

Overall, these 4 days have not only allowed me to grow as a leader but also as a person and I am beyond grateful for this opportunity :)

The activities were both fun and challenging, and they pushed me out of my comfort zone in ways that allowed me to grow both personally and socially.

One of the highlights of the camp was the teamwork and leadership skills I developed. Whether it was during outdoor team-building exercises, group discussions, or problem-solving challenges, I learned the importance of communication, trust, and collaboration. Working alongside others who shared similar goals but different perspectives helped me appreciate the value of diverse viewpoints and the power of working together to achieve a common objective.

Additionally, the camp provided ample opportunities for self-reflection. Through various activities and moments of downtime, I had the chance to reflect on my strengths and areas for improvement. I realized that leadership isn't just about taking charge, but also about being a good listener, showing empathy, and supporting others in their growth.

Beyond the learning experiences, the camp was simply a lot of fun, providing a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. I also met new people (my watchmates) throughout this camp and wow they are an amazing bunch of people. I also had opportunities to learn more about singapore through the different areas. For example, the learning journey I embarked on was the urban farming and I learnt more about the process of growing Asian green vegetables 🌱🌱 . I also developed a deeper understanding of multiculturalism and diversity in singapore! Thanks so much NYC and NACIL for this amazing camp!

At first, I was nervous and afraid I couldn’t get along with other OSLP participants.

However, my watch(6!!!) was super outgoing and I immediately felt welcomed apart from the OSLP/Nacli/NYC staff! The activities for day 1 was really engaging as it allowed us to critically think about our society and what does it mean to us. The overnight stay at National Gallery SG and night quest really fuelled me to excitement! My watch was incredibly participative which I loved!

Day two was more on learning specific aspects to sustainability and how we should approach it to fight against climate change and other worldwide issues.

The overnight stay at Maritime Gallery was interesting, as we learn the different prospects of how the marine jobs/industry helps to protect Singapore, furthermore, the watches discussed about a scenario where we were in crisis which allowed us to critically think as a community.

Day 3 was my favourite, as we were able to mingle with other watches and get to know them at a good level! There was a few talks with entrepreneurs and how changi airport generally runs. It sparked my curiosity in diving deeper into what I want to do to contribute to the society.

The most exciting and fun activity was going to Jewel changi, where we played at the bouncy area.

OSLP has definitely changed my perspective in building a better society of Singapore.

I realised how important having a team that your'e comfortable is, because if we are not comfortable with our team, some issues like communication and work issues may arise, and I can say that my team has been having fun while being able to complete tasks well throughout the camp.

Day 2, our watch grew stronger, especially through the long island and table top activities. When someone proposes and idea or a solution, we discussed, identify flaws and find new effective solutions. With that our bonds got stronger.

Day 3, the session at Crowne Plaza really changed my perspectives. I usually dont understand some of the government's decisions and the game called The Collapse really put me in the shoes of a minister and I realised that some solutions can compromise certain stuff so I learnt to trust my higher ups. Then the talk really boost my confidence and made me not so worried about my future. They talked a lot about work and I learned that we should just go with what we know now and whatever happens be it good or not it is just an opportunity for growth.

So throughout the camp I really cherished connections and friendships more since I can rely on them and it makes me more open minded and have different perspectives when reaching a goal we share with our team and that leads to success.

my biggest takeaway from OSLP 2024 is realising the importance of diversity in approaching the problems of SG as future leaders! through interacting with leaders from my watch, leaders from other watches and leaders in entrepreneurship and other industries through the sharings in the past 4 days, I opened my eyes into the vast human world where people of my society had different perspectives, mindsets, beliefs and dispositions. With difference in opinions and personalities, I also understood that conflict came along with diversity, and its instrumental that we make compromises as leaders to integrate and merge everyone's ideas to create a better, more foolproof solution! in essence, diversity allows a variety of opinions and results in the generation of higher quality, more effective ideas, esp in the governance of SG where numerous ministries work together to carry out the operation of our country's activities

We headed to a nursery right after where we learnt about changi’s plants. After a ride back to Changi’s jewel, we ate sukiya while enjoying the view of the rain vortex. We headed to the bouncing net to have some fun! At night, we had heart to heart talks with each other and bonded over our experiences even more.

Such experiences, and OSLP overall makes learning about Singapore and networking with people from different schools so much more enjoyable!
