England would tax its people heavily, and King George wouldn't allow people to practice religion other than Roman Catholic. The Pilgrims decided to sail to the new land to chase their dream of starting a new life where they could practice whatever religion they wanted, and where they wouldn't be taxed and could make their own laws, so they sailed across the Atlantic and created their new life.
