Personally, I don't think the Embargo act was a very good idea. I don't think that Jefferson was thinking ahead. At that time, a lot of Americans depended on trade for supplies. And as the notes stated, it really did 'back fire' on America. The Embargo act hurt and did not help the United States like Jefferson had hoped. However, the Nonintercourse act was a little better because then our country wouldn't pick sides. This helped us because we could still get the supplies we needed without getting involved with the French or British.

In my opinion, I do not think that the Embargo act was a good idea. Jefferson clearly wasn't considering the result of this act, since it back fired on America. Trade was a very important element in America, and many Americans relied on it. Although, I do think that the Nonintercourse act was a better idea because it permitted America to trade with everybody except France and Britain. Americans could then get their supplies without having to deal with these countires.

The Embargo act was a horrible idea. Jefferson had good intentions, but more thought should have gone into the act before it was in play. America was thriving on trade, and cutting all of that off really hurt us as a country. The Nonintercourse act was a better idea, because we could still trade goods we needed without having to worry about France of Britain attacking ships.

The Embargo Act was not a good idea at all. Jefferson wasnt thinking of the consequences and that is what made the whole act back fire. Trading was very important in America and taking that away was not the right way to handle the situation. The Nonintercourse Act was a better idea because it kept only the countries that America trusted like France and Britain in the trading system. This way that they wouldnt have to worry about foreign nations taking over.

No, I do not think that the embargo act was a good idea even in the beginning because it failed in the end. It did bring good things but once it began to go downhill it was almost like all of those good advantages that happened went to waste. Jefferson was not thinking at the beginning to how it will back fire on them in the end

I think the Embargo Act was not a good idea since the beginning because it failed in the end. The act ended up hurting them because it was not hurting the british and french as much as it hurt them. The act made trade cancel between everyone. The British and French are still able to get trade form other people while americans couldn't. The Nonintercourse act was a better way to go. This regulated trade to everyone but British and the French.

I do not think that the Embargo Act was a good idea, personally, because Jefferson admitted that it failed in the end. I think that he should have put more thought into the idea. In my opinion, banning the trade was a horrible idea, since they needed goods too. This did not only hurt the French and Britain, but it hurt the Americans just as much. The Nonintercourse Act was definitely a better idea.

I think that the Nonintercourse Act should have been in play as soon as they realized that the Embargo Act was a failure. The Nonintercourse Act brought back most trade, which was the problem with the Embargo Act. So many items used daily were items that were traded for. Trade also brought in a lot of money. The embargo Act just put America in a pit it couldn't afford to be in at that time.

I do not think that the Embargo Act was a very good idea, because it was hurting the French and British but was hurting the Americans even more. Therefore, the plan is a complete waste. Also, Jefferson even admitted it was a bad plan. I think he should have thought more about it and realize the outcomes that would come with it. The Nonintercourse was a better plan for the Americans.

In my opinion the embargo act was a bad idea because it all failed in the end. Trading was a big part to get good so this is a horrible idea that was not well overlooked by Jefferson. It also hurt the british and french as much as the americans because they couldnt trade to us. So the embargo act was not such a great idea.
