They used items such as clay, wood (mainly tree bark and wooden poles). With these resources they built houses and other constructional projects. Iroquois houses were called longhouses. They were used for shelter and were typically 30 to 200 feet long, 15 to 25 feet wide and 10 to 20 feet high. At the top, there were holes so that the smoke from the campfires would not clog up in the longhouse.

The quote or line that stood out to our group is "The LONGHOUSE was the center of Iroquois life. Archaeologists have unearthed longhouse remains that extend more than the length of a football field." This stood out to our group because we thought about how in our lives most houses are not the center of you life, it is just the place where you live, and most houses aren't as long as a football field.

The post we choose to reflect on Andrew, Taylor, Gavin, and Georgia's post. We agree with them because they are showing that you use your resources to the best that you can so you can better the society that you live in.

The line that stood out the most to us is, "Agriculture was the main source of food. In Iroquois society, women held a special role. Believed to be linked to the earth's power to create life, women determined how the food would be distributed — a considerable power in a farming society." This stood out the most to us because in history, women and men have not been equal. The Iroquois are one of the tribes that value women as much as men, if not more.

We chose to reflect on Emma, Ellie, and Krishna's post. We agree because they said that for us, homes are not the center of our life, they are just the place we live in. For the Iroquois, that is different.
