Selina Caiado response: It only took about 3 days for one of them to faint just because of the change in their diet/lack of nutrition. One of them said they get daily exercise and just a few days out of that routine really showed effects on the body like the red dots. It honestly just surprised me how quickly things can change on someone's mental and physical well-being.

Selina Caiado response: I would say Guatemala is sitting around stage 1-2. One example that brought me to my prediction was the one couple that they met that was only in their early 20s yet they are caring for their family of 8! The second hint that brought me to my prediction is that the country has seen pretty extreme poverty all over, this indicates a less developed region with a high birth rate too.

Selina Caiado response: There are so many different concepts that were represented and shown in this documentary of things that I maybe have never thought about before watching this film and seeing how truly difficult it is to live in extreme poverty like many of the people in Guatemala do. Some main things that I will never take for granted include access to healthcare, education, food, water, shelter and many of the resources I have access to here in Canada that leads to living a high quality of life.

Selina Caiado response: Like anyone would I think Zach, Chris, Sean and Ryan all gained experience by stepping into the shoes of what it's really like what people go through living in extreme poverty. They went through all of it from sickness, no money one day-1 dollar the next, no clean water, no energy and even no access to food. Chris even said he had lost 20 pounds just in the time that they were there (56 days) and couldn’t imagine what it would be like living there forever. By just studying topics like these you really don’t get the feel of what it’s really like to live like some of the people we saw in the documentary. They were actually taught new methods and strategies of ways of living rather than just getting it from a textbook, learning this way can give you a better perspective and really open your eyes.

I would say Guatemala is at stage 1. Most of the families are trying to have lots of children so they can help work (at home, on the farm etc.) and earn money. That tells me that the birth rate is high, just like in stage 1 countries (looking at a population pyramid). With some of these living conditions, I’d assume the death rate is pretty high, and life expectancy is quite low. So if this country's population was put into a population pyramid, it would most likely start off with a large population, and it would get slimmer as it goes to the top.

Selina Caiado response: This has definitely changed my perception on poverty especially when one of these boys said this is how these people have adapted to living in poverty with as little as $1.00 per day. They said this is not ok and it was truly upsetting that these people have learned to live like this (cleaning, finding food, water sources or even as hard as making the decision if you want to use your little money to keep your child in school or feed them).

Selina Caiado response: Something I can do to better understand some of these issues is maybe not just researching and studying poverty from a textbook but maybe watching more videos and documentaries like this one to visually get a better idea of what living in extreme poverty is really like. I can also follow certain accounts on social media that help people living like this and see some of the improvements they make on the lives of some of the people. I can creatively share what I'm learning about poverty by posting on social media, making a blog or even posting support signs across town to open up the eyes of many people that may take some of their everyday necessities for granted. Posting on social media about issues like poverty would be the best way for most people to help with this issue because millions of people now have social media so the word would spread around quickly.

With friendship, they have met new people who all shared their tough, yet inspiring journey with the things that they were given. With sustainability, in order to survive in the conditions that they live in, you need to be wise and think well on what to do next. Many families that live in poverty, sacrifice their lives for example, a glass of water.

they has changed my perspective about poverty by a lot since in the documentary the people living in poverty couldn't afford things that they needed to survive and things that people who weren't in poverty took for granted like school. This has also changed my perspective on poverty sice i did not know that some people in poverty were not paid some days, but i already knew that some people werent paid a decent amount to live in some plaes of the world

i think something i could do to better understand this issue would be to share this documentary to my friends and family so they can learn about this and they share this to documentary to others so that a lot of people could learn about poverty in less developed countries so that we all could try to do something about it. a way i could creatively shae my learning could be by drawing a poster since posters draw peoples attention.
