During our free periods such as recess, lunch or self-directed learning, some people do not have anything to do, turning to their personal learning device to play games. A deterrent for this could be engaging the class by lending games from the student centre, a google sheet being refreshed every week to indicate what day, time and item being borrowed with a first-come-first-serve basis. The peer support leaders can be the ones to facilitate and fill out the google sheet for this. This will not only let the students bond with each other but also relax after a tiring day in school.

Another solution is to make chores like mopping and sweeping more fun by designing a new appliance out of it. We can add a cleaning go-kart that will allow children to ride on. As the children drive around on the kart, the cleaning mechanism at the bottom can help to clean the floors. This will make chores seem more fun for children and they will more likely voluntarily help out with household chores. This can also lessen the stress and workload for the parents.

Finally, We can also make public places more lively. Nowadays, children prefer to stay at home and use their devices rather than go out to enjoy nature. We can add more fun and colourful murals to public places like parks and libraries. We can also play fun and lively music in the parks to encourage more people to visit the parks. Finally, we can also add some robots that will go around greeting people and giving them treats or small gifts. These programmed robots will definitely attract more visitors to public places as they are something that we have never seen before and offer new functions and features which show how advanced our technology is.

Firstly, for this theme, we could try to reduce the number of cars on the road. To do this, we can. Use signals that will transmit to the radios of the cars, emitting a loud siren or ‘beep’ sound whenever cars pass by highways or underground tunnels. These sounds will constantly annoy the drivers and will cause them to look for other alternatives in order to get away from these loud noises that are constantly emitted.

Our second idea is: we can also promote the use of public transport by improving the facilities and functions of public transport like adding music in the mrt or adding more seats for those who need them hence satisfying the users of public transport. Satisfying the users of public transport can definitely help to promote the use of public transport.

Lastly, as air conditioning is used a lot by the Singaporean population, there could be a quiz on a person’s experience with the aircon and how there are feeling before turning on the aircon. The app can ask which temperature the person likes the most without telling them of the specific temperature to avoid bias. The app can also take notes from the weather currently in Singapore, after taking multiple things into account like how hot a person is feeling to the time of day, the air conditioner can choose the most eco-friendly mode while maximising personal comfort.

A large problem in Singapore is food waste, many people may have food in the fridge that they have kept for too long and it ends up expired and thrown in the trash. A solution for this could be a fridge that scans your items before they go inside, warning you of their expiry date on an app in your phone. The mechanism could be similar to that of the ones in police car trunks’ where there is a sensor above that lets the policemen know that all the items they need are inside. The fridge can also let you know if there are preservatives inside a food, allowing you to know how long you can keep it for and by when you need to eat it. Making it more convenient as you do not need to manually check the expiry dates for each item.

Secondly, Many Singaporeans don’t recycle often as they do not know the materials able to be recycled or where to recycle them at. To detect materials in something a person wants to recycle , there can be multiple stations across Singapore which will analyse the item and tell you which parts or what material and whether it can be recycled. It can also tell you if you need to put it in an electronic waste bin or can donate the fabric to a place in Singapore, directing you to the nearest one and the others across Singapore.

Finally, Many small businesses do not have the money to invest in security checkpoints in all their shops, thus if a thief steals something, the owner may not know. To ensure the amount of goods at the end of the day is the same as the sales, there could be weighted plates under the shelves or goods, allowing the owner to roughly gauge and ensure that the money and goods sold are accurate.
