For The Dark Side of the Moon album design, Pink Floyd wanted something "smarter, neater, more classy, and simple"There are many reasons why they chose the prism dispersion phenomenon, but this is a digression. The important thing is that it spread very quickly. Even if you don't listen to Pink Floyd's songs, you must have seen this picture.

The different colors are caused by the different frequencies of waves reflected by different materials.

If a decay event occurs, this device will cause a hammer to break the flask containing the poisonous gas. After one hour, if no decay event occurs, the cat is still alive; otherwise, if decay occurs, the device is triggered, and the poisonous gas evaporates, causing the cat to die immediately. Before you open the closed box, the cat is in a superposition of dead and alive.

Only when you open the box and "observe" you will know whether the cat is dead or alive.

To show the superposition of various elements on a 2-dimensional level, I think there is nothing more classic than Cubism. It's like we see the superposition state of matter in four-dimensional space.

To put it simply, the electron knows that you are observing it, and it will also respond to your consciousness. The scientific community also has to admit the wave-particle duality of microscopic particles.

But according to this statement, it is like you take a gun and shoot at a person. If this person lives in a world where he will not be shot every time you shoot, then he will survive every time you shoot. It's all a throw of the dice. This is just a theory. After all, no one will do this experiment.

The photos produced from these were combined with my own recordings and edited into a video. I want to use this method to discuss light and color in quantum physics with the audience.

Observations play an important role in quantum mechanics. When we observe a quantum system, we get a specific measurement. However, prior to observation, a quantum system may be in a number of possible states, and by observation, we will collapse the system to one of its definite states.

When it comes to entangled states, observing the state of one entangled particle will immediately affect the state of other particles entangled with it, even if they are far apart. This phenomenon is called "quantum non-locality", and it violates the principle of locality in classical physics.

I find the impact of the German subtitles and the unique font quite powerful. Combining the movie visuals with the font must be very interesting.

I have chosen three themes, "Workers in the Underground City," "The Aristocratic Protagonist Disguised as a Worker," and "The Mechanical Maiden," for the production of the posters.

However, I found that the result appeared dull when viewed in color. Additionally, using special colors for the font on a black and white background seemed jarring.

There is a light source behind the plant. The light passes through the gap between the plants, just like a double-slit experiment, but this time the detection screen has become my camera and film.

I cut three photos into pieces and rearranged them, creating a composition resembling the waveform of a double-slit experiment.

Another impactful workshop involved creating a text-based adventure game. Despite being purely textual, the incorporation of images, choices, and story elements made it fascinating. I designed a horror-themed farm where players struggle to distinguish between dreams and reality. The cows, due to unique circumstances, appear human-like. At that time, I hadn't decided to center my work around quantum physics, but creating this game inspired me with ideas related to superposition. It's a game worth playing, and the link in this post directs to the game, hoping it's still accessible.

This is a Polaroid.

For most people, it's a one-shot imaging camera.

For me, it's the tool to capture light.

Light, reflected by different media, forms waves of different frequencies, enters our eyes, touches our retina, signals transmitted to the brain, allowing us to perceive color.

If, at this moment, the camera happens to be between the light waves and our eyes.

Photons interact with photographic paper, at this moment, time freezes on this plane. You hold the photo just ejected from the camera, observing how photons paint this moment. Do photons know we are observing them?

Some have attempted to understand photons, letting them pass through a slit individually, then capturing them on a plane, observing the patterns generated on the plane. A single accidental lack of observation in the process unexpectedly brings the consciousness of photons to the surface.

Human observation affects the nature of photons. At the instant I press the shutter, its consciousness might have perceived it before.

或许那个世界的可见光波长都聚集在一起

If there is only one wavelength of visible light, then I can only capture one color.

This world is left with only yellow, as if photons choose to showcase only this wavelength, but they themselves are unaware, some choices are beyond our control.

Just like the cat trapped in the box with the poison device, it can't choose to be placed inside or not, nor can it choose its own life or death.

Before the box is opened, the cat exists in a superposition of being both dead and alive. I know it's hard to understand; you can imagine yourself in three-dimensional space observing a four-dimensional cube, simultaneously seeing its six faces and its interior. That's an idealized state of superposition.

The box is opened, you rejoice that the cat is still alive, but this is because you've been chosen to remain in the world where the cat is alive. In another world, you might be holding the cat in tears, perhaps in that world, there is not only yellow, maybe the visible light wavelengths in that world are all gathered together.

快门时间每一次的改变

都是对时间和空间的重新定义

更是对光子纠缠的一次抽象呈现

两个互相纠缠的光子

如果你不观察它们

光子就处于又亮又暗的叠加态

你观察的一瞬间

假设被观察的那一颗坍缩成白色

那另一颗无论相隔多远必定坍缩成黑色

光子的意识与人的观察有着紧密的联系

因为人的观察而坍缩的光子拥有了意识

光子的意识也重塑了我们观察的意义

White, monotonous, gentle, pure. From the perspective of light, white light is the culmination of all colors, the convergence of all light waves.

Black and white imagery lacks color but gains a poetic essence. This makes light leaks particularly prominent on Polaroid paper. If a photograph is a painting drawn by photons through our eyes, then light leaks are like brushstrokes when the painting is not yet complete.

Continuously capturing the same object, even in the darkest frames, there are impatient brushstrokes of photons. Each change in shutter speed is a redefinition of time and space, a abstract representation of entangled photons.

Two entangled photons, if you don't observe them, exist in a superposition of both bright and dark. The moment you observe, assuming the observed one collapses into white, the other, no matter how far apart, inevitably collapses into black.

The consciousness of photons is closely tied to human observation. Photons collapsed by human observation gain consciousness. The consciousness of photons also reshapes the meaning of our observations.

Before year 3, each project had a specific theme, and I tried to make each step in the creative process traceable. The final output could be justified by the reasons behind each previous step. However, for this CPP, I chose a very vague theme, with a title like "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" that might seem perplexing. Quantum physics is a profound field, especially for someone studying art like me, but after some initial research, I found that some people have successfully integrated microscopic quantum concepts with art. So, I decided to persevere, leading to a highly experimental final video.

What I want to achieve in Unit 10: CPP has deepened my understanding of photography, but in the future, I still want to create works related to illustration, given that it's my major. I'll explore the connection between photos and illustrations, akin to Andy Warhol, by painting on printed photos and engaging in repeated printing. Regarding my theme, I might lean towards exploring philosophy, as the culmination of quantum physics research leads to philosophical questions. Scientists contemplate the meaning of human existence and whether Earth and the universe are confined spaces. Is a person's entire life preplanned? While these questions may seem cliché, I want to approach them from unique perspectives, though I'm still uncertain about the specific approach.

Why and How: In an ideal timeline, I plan to conduct a series of practices involving the secondary creation of photographs. Following that, I'll determine a relatively clear direction, such as "The Influence of Philosophy on Illustration." In an ideal scenario, I'd use riso printing to create something resembling a photography book – a book entirely composed of illustrations created from photographs. I hope my final result can be a book, a printed piece primarily focused on images.
