Palacio the protagonist is August Pullman. In the beginning of the novel August is a self conscious kid. In the novel August states "If I found a magic lamp and I could have one wish, I would wish that I had a normal face that no one ever noticed at all" (Palacio 3). This shows August is self conscious by showing that he wishes he didn't have his face and so people won't notice him. At the end of the story august earns the character trait brave. Palacio The main characters are Mom, Dad, August, Via, Jack Will, Julian, Justin, and Summer. The setting takes place in the city and at Beecher prep school. The initial conflict is how August is deformed and is going to school for the first time but is being bullied. Later on, August gets a tour of the school , then Jack will Punches Julian and causes a mini war and people start to take sides. while people on Julian's side ignore Jack Will and August they go on a nature retreat field trip and Jack Will and August get confronted and bullied. Then a turning point happens when Amos, Henry, and Miles stood up for Jack Will and August and confronted the 7th grade bullies. then after this August and everyone goes home and the next day at school people are talking to him and becoming his friend making August popular. Lastly, at the graduation ceremony August gets a standing ovation and wins the Henry Ward Beecher Medal and no one is avoiding him anymore. The only reason i wont give 5 is because I want to know more info about Via and Justin and the other characters. Overall the book was amazing and while some parts were heartbreaking while others were heartwarming I rate Wonder 4 out of 5 stars.
