Classroom Activity: "Phonics Bingo" is an activity that can be done in the classroom to help building phonics skills. Children take turns picking a word from a stack of cards and calling out that word while the other students cross out the words that are called. The first student to fill in a column wins the round; the columns can be labeled by phonics patterns to help children recognize patterns and to reduce the amount of time they take looking for a word. Children can be placed into groups to help each other find a word if needed (Smith, 2022).

The student who wrote the word must tell the class where they heard the word and how the word was used. This activity accommodates the needs of learners at all levels, as each student is given an opportunity to share words that they do not know (Colorin Colorado, n.d.).
