My reaction to a resolution of what they did to Elie's father when they found out he couldn't march to "left, right, left, right. When the guards found out that Elie's dad couldn't march the right way they would make him get in the line and march with everyone else and they watched his every move, every time they seen that he wouldn't march right they would beat him and whoop him with anything they had handy. (page 55) My reaction to this is that it was to much, they could have helped him or many of the other people around could have helped him instead of just Elie trying to help him in a panic.

My reaction to them deciding to fast which is very dangerous in that place. (page 69) "The day of Atonement. Should we fast? The question is the hotly debated. To fast could mean a more certain, more rapid death. In, this place we were always fasting. It was Yom Kippur year-round. But there were those who said we should fast precisely because it was dangerous to do so. We need to show god that even here, in hell, we were capable of singing His praises.

My question is why was the SS officer being so nice, giving them gifts, and letting them have more freedom the usual. (page 69) The SS offered us a beautiful present for the new year. We had just got back from work. As soon as we passes the camp's entrance, we sensed something out of the ordinary in the air. The roll call was shorter than usual. The evening soup was distributed at great speed, swallowed as quickly.

A quote that stuck out to me.

"Your lucky to to have been brought here so late. Today, this is paradise compared to what the camp was two years ago. Back then, Buna was a veritable hell. No water, no blankets, less soup and bread. At night, we slept almost naked and the temperature was thirty below. We were collecting corpses by the hundreds everyday. Work was very hard. Today this is a little paradise. The Kapos back then had orders to kill a certain number of prisoners every day. And every week selection. A merciless selection... Yes you are lucky."(page 70) This quote stuck out to me because it shows how much the camp has changed how how uncaring they use to be.
