Well ultimately I am taking this class as a prerequisite for the Radiology Technology program. I hope to get a better understanding of human society, behavior , and social relationships. I would also like to use this class to help me understand more about my heritage and my culture's society.

I appreciate this chapter for comparing sociology and other social sciences. For example History "the social science that focuses on past events" or Political science focuses on gov't and politics. It was also nice to learn these social sciences differ "not so much by the content of what each studies but, rather, what social scientists look for when they conduct their studies."

Overall I learned that Sociology can me interpreted in many different way's but, I really enjoy the variety of studies.

The first thing I remember buying was a blue gameboy pocket in 1996. At this time I was 6 years old and had been helping my father with his plumbing business on weekends cleaning up and just helping my dad with various side jobs. my dad would give me 20$ a day every time I would go out and help him. I remember finally saving up enough money to purchase this gameboy and asking my mom to take me to Funcoland to purchase it. I can still remember the feeling of excitement when the store clerk brought the brand new gameboy over to me. This gameboy satisfied me for many years as having 2 older brothers we were told to share everything, but this one thing was mine to use as much as I wanted.

the social pressures that made me feel like this was a good purchase were that all my friends at school had one. Also being a middle child and being a little boy I idolized my older brothers and they always had the new and latest game systems so this was a first for me to purchase my own.

This chapter did a fantastic job explaining the power of nonverbal communication.

It was interesting to learn that non verbal communication and boundaries are determined by many factors like emotion and culture .

Biggest take away for me was how the author was able to put a perspective on the different communication zones and the physical distance zones between them.

example "in the 2nd zone-personal distance-the close phase is 1.5 to 2.5 feet" and for a stranger to enter this zone is considered hostile.

(farm to table) There were occasions where some families will trade goods to each other depending on what they were specifically looking for which did build relationships. Some practices I believe were concealed was the type of meat used might not have been top grade cuts or perhaps weren't the most sought after items we would want in the US. Example beef means beef but in mexico that could be a burrito with beef tongue vs flank steak.
