I believe students are most likely to violate the 8th commandment. Many students resort to the unethical use of plagiarism to complete assignments in a timely manner. They may also resort to plagiarism when they are struggling to understand certain subjects, so they can get better grades. Solutions and information are so readily available on the internet, so it is that much more tempting for students to take short cuts when it comes to their education.

Plagiarism checkers are used by many educational institutions to prevent students from cheating through online resources. To further reduce student plagiarism, a few approaches can be taken. Schools can educate students about the concept and consequences of plagiarism and discuss why honest work is important. Providing this education will ensure that students are aware of the implications of plagiarism and the value of their original work. Schools may also incorporate workshops into the curriculum to teach students how to find and cite credible sources. This will ensure that students have the proper education to prevent accidental plagiarism.

Schools are also responsible for setting clear rules and guidelines regarding correct citations so they can accurately assess plagiarism violations. Another way to reduce the prevalence of plagiarism is through an overall change in assignment structure. Teachers can create assignments that require more reflection and analysis, making it difficult for students to find answers online.

Another important way for educational institutions to prevent plagiarism is by increasing penalties for repeat offenses so that students understand the severity of academic dishonesty while still allowing room for growth. By addressing the causes of plagiarism and incorporating proper education and strategies, schools can create an environment where students value and practice academic integrity.
