Very soon into their day's travel, the Packard's engine began to backfire as they made their way through the foreboding Chihuahuan Desert.
Limping the car forward, Hazel and Nancy made another 200 miles through New Mexico until they finally reached their stopping point at 6 o'clock on a Friday night, the luxurious Hotel Cortez in El Paso, Texas.

The next morning, Mr. White had drove their car to the Packard dealership to repair the vehicle. The replacement part the car needs is all the way in Detroit so the car could be driven until mid-week. Hazel and Nancy are stuck now, so they decided to trolley across the border into Juarez, Mexico to go shop. When they arrived, they were confronted with protests and chaos because they all were targeting Americans as they returned to the hotel safely.

Conclusion- Who was the killer?

I believe the killer is Aledonda, because of her threats towards Pop Frome and the affair he had as she was blackmailing him that she would tell the public and his family about the affair, so that meant that Frome had to begin giving her monthly payments to keep quiet. Many years of shame, and some two months before his wife and daughter's fateful trip, Pop Frome had enough and suddenly cut off payments to Adelonda, regardless of the consequences. So, in conclusion, I believe Adelonda is the killer of Hazel and Nancy Frome.

There he likely learned from Hazel about her husband's prestigious executive role at the Atlas Powder Company. But Ebell's quiet medical practice was also the perfect cover for what was his real occupation: that of one of Adolf Hitler's top spies in the U.S., with a specific mission to help garner information on the American military at the El Paso military facility, Fort Bliss.
