James I (1603-1625)

I am King James I, and I am the first Puritan King who took over after the Great Queen Elizabeth. I was the first King of England to translate the Bible into English, calling it the King James Bible. I was honored as the namesake for the new English settlement in our newly acquired land of America. We named it Jamestown.

Charles I (1625- 1649)

I am King Charles I, I had some severe struggles with Parliament involving taxes and religion; I then dissolved various government bodies due to their defiance. Parliament was outraged, and caused them to rebel against me, which started The English Civil War in 1642 . After my Royalist forces were defeated against the Roundheads, Oliver Cromwell (leader of the Roundheads) ordered my execution in 1949.

Oliver Cromwell (1649-1658)

I am King Oliver Cromwell and I was the leader of the Roundheads during the English Civil War, I was crowned the Lord Protector after my victory. I was a Puritan Army General during the War, and I believe in a purely puritanical society and tried to enforce these ideals onto all of England. During my rule, I led the charge to conquer both Scotland and Ireland, I did this because I wanted England to be the dominant European power. But unfortunately, I failed.

Charles II (1658- 1685)

I am Charles II, I was exiled out of England during Cromwell's reign, since he temporarily abolished the Monarchy, I am the son of Charles I. I wanted to create a place where people could be who they are; so I created the Declaration of Indulgence, which granted the freedom for anyone to follow any religion. During my Reign, there was The Great Fire of London in 1666 and the return of the Black Plague (or the most deadly virus in England).

James II (1685- 1688)

I am King James II, I was the last Roman Catholic King of England, Scotland, and Ireland, I was overthrown peacefully in 1688. After my reign, The Constitutional Monarchy was created, which was certain rules all kings and queens must abide by, it was put in place after I had 12 illegitimate children. The people of England were displeased with me being a Catholic, so much so that many people had an issue with me as King.

William & Mary (1688-1703)

I am Mary, I am the daughter of King James II, however I was raised as Protestant instead of a Catholic like my father. I married William of Orange, he is my 1st cousin, together we did not have any children so the monarchy continued with my sisters children. The English Bill of Rights were passed during our reign in 1689, which later became the inspiration for the U.S. Bill of Rights.
