Before today, I was feeling pretty unconfident about finishing this project. It felt as though I had bitten off more than I could chew, and the original scope—starting with five songs—quickly became overwhelming.

After reassessing the situation and simplifying the project, I now feel much more confident. I've narrowed my focus down to just one song: Let It Be. This decision was made with previous research in mind and has helped to clarify my direction. By focusing on one song, I’m able to go deeper into the arrangement and performance, while also managing expectations and ensuring I can complete everything to a high standard before the deadline.

For the remainder of the sessions, I will focus on refining and recording the piano part, working on the vocal performance, and potentially adding some guitar elements if time allows. This focused approach will help ensure the final product is polished and well-rounded.

The final song will be uploaded to YouTube, which gives the project a real-world purpose and adds an extra level of motivation and accountability. I’m now in a much better position to complete this project successfully, and I’m looking forward to seeing (and sharing) the final version come together.

Final Evaluation

Throughout this course, I have developed both personally and professionally in a number of areas. My approach to research, use of resources, development of skills, and final achievements have all contributed to my overall growth.

Research

To support my learning, I engaged in a range of research methods. I made effective use of YouTube tutorials, which I found particularly helpful as a visual learner. Being able to see techniques in action helped me understand and apply them more easily. I also appreciated the convenience of YouTube, as it was accessible at any time and supported both passive (background learning) and active (focused learning) research styles. In addition to video content, I read several articles about Let It Be by The Beatles and the wider context of 1970s music. This helped me gain a deeper understanding of the era’s musical influences and how they shaped the song’s production and style.

Resources

I made good use of the resources available to me both inside and outside of college. The college booth provided a professional space to focus on music production, and I regularly used Logic Pro, which I accessed through college. I also benefited from the guidance and support of my college lecturer, who helped me develop my skills and improve the quality of my work. The college laptop and equipment were essential tools, and having access to Microsoft Teams allowed me to stay organised, communicate effectively, and keep track of assignments and feedback.

Skills and Knowledge

Over the duration of the course, I have improved significantly in several key areas. My ability to use Logic Pro has grown stronger, and I am now more confident using it to produce and edit music. I have also become better at managing my workload and organising my time effectively, which has helped me meet deadlines and reduce stress. In addition, my confidence has grown, both in my technical abilities and in working independently.

Achievements and Future Goals

One of my biggest achievements has been completing the course. It has taken dedication and effort, and I am proud of the progress I have made. Looking ahead, I want to continue building on these achievements by working more collaboratively with others. I recognise the value of teamwork in the music industry and would like to improve my communication and group project skills in future work.

Overall, this course has helped me grow in many ways, and I feel more prepared for the next steps in my development as a music student and aspiring professional.
