This colorful illustrated story is told through the eyes of a well mannered boy who gets frequently invited to meet with the king and queen. As anyone would he asks the king and queen if he could simply bring a friend to the next event and they both agree that any friend of the boys is a friend of theres as well. The boy brings many exotic animals to the upcoming events but as always the animals are very well mannered. On the final day the king and queen decide to hold their tea session at the zoo.

This award winning picture book gets readers involved with animals and repetition. The three pigs start collecting materials and going off to build houses of straw, sticks, and bricks. But the wolf’s huffing and puffing blows the first pig right out of the story. The second pig gets blown right out of his house. The third pig was the smartest as he made his house out of brick the woof could huff and puff but could not blow his house down. This book is a great addition to any classroom as it gives the enjoyment reading to anyone who picks it up. With its humor, illustrations, and a dazzling fantasy that keeps readers attention.
Wiesner, David. 2001. The Three Pigs. Clarion Books.

While their parents are out for the evening, Judy and Peter Shepherd, after playing with some toys, become bored and decide to go to the park. There they find a jungle adventure game called Jumanji. Taking the game home, they find a warning message; "Do not begin unless you intend to finish". As children do they ignore the label and the adventure begins. They soon realize that what they roll on the die it appears in real life throughout the house. When Peter rolls on a lion, a real lion appears, which Judy and Peter trap in their mother's bedroom. Judy rolls on a stampede, Peter rolls on a monsoon. Finally, Judy rolls on a volcano before things could get worse she screams JUMANJI! This ends the game that second and the kids quickly return the board game to the park and hurry home before their parents return. This book can be read allowed or enjoyed individually by many people of any ages. The authors wide range of adjectives, and illustrations pull readers in and want them to continue the story to the end.
Van, Allsburg C. Jumanji. Boston: Houghton Mifflin Co, 1981.

This picture book begins on a Tuesday evening around eight. The town settles in for the night but the nearby pond is not settling in and things are getting interesting. The local frogs begin to take on the neighborhood bringing havoc to the dogs and the local law enforcement. Always keep your eyes on the sky because you never know what you might catch! This book is a great book to enhance a child’s imagination allowing them to open up their own mind. This book can also be very interactive by teaching the students the sounds of the animals shown in the book.

Wiesner, David. Tuesday. New York: Clarion Books, 2006.

Johnny Orchard, a young boy, is jealous because his neighbors have bear skins hanging on their barns , so he takes a rifle and goes searching for the biggest bear in the valley. However, when he finds only a bear cub, he befriends it by feeding it maple sugar and brings the bear home as a pet. As it grows, it becomes a problem to his family and the neighbors due to its enormous appetite. After the neighbors complain to his father, Johnny tries three times to return the bear to the woods. Each time the bear follows Johnny back home. Finally, Johnny and his father decide the only way to solve the problem is to shoot the bear. Johnny takes the bear far into the woods, but while loading his rifle, the bear runs off and into a live trap that has maple sugar in it. Men who had set the trap to capture animals for the zoo soon come. They take Johnny's bear to a zoo where Johnny can visit him anytime he wants to. This book can be used in a classroom to show that you do not always need to fit in and be like everyone else and in the end being your own person is more beneficial than being anyone else.

Ward, Lynd. The Biggest Bear. Houghton, 2003.
