The way Joseph is just awestruck by all the culture in the city and jewelry and food from different countries all over Europe. It is described very colorfully. He decides to explore the Church of Our Lady and the different statues, windows, and more.

That day he saw Jan Kanty practicing his alchemy. Practicing a "hobby" such as this is frowned upon by the kingdom. The stress is getting to him and Joseph forgets to arrive for his trumpeter position the next day.
