In the book Tribe, Sebastian Junger mentions that human beings are happier when they are in a tribal community compared to more sophisticated societies since people in tribes bond closely and help each other during the difficulties of tribal life. Following Mary’s practice of being inclusive in our communities, I can express mercy and compassion to my classmates this school year by closely bonding with my friends, accepting their differences, and supporting them during their times of need.

I affirm myself as a Catholic believer of God, and I do my best to follow/apply Catholic teachings in my society. I feel the Lord’s presence in my life through daily prayer and by attending Catholic masses. After reading Tribe, I learned about the tight bonds that we innately form with our communities, and I became motivated to strengthen these relationships with my classmates/teachers at school and with my parents at home by being inclusive wherever I am.
