         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Began in a predominantly upper class white neighborhood in Manhattan called Harlem.<br>- It was being rapidly overdeveloped which lead to abandoned empty buildings which landlords were desperate to fill<br>- This lead to the Great Migration. Black families from other neighborhoods began flocking to Harlem. White residents began fighting to keep African Americans out of the area but failed.<br>- Bigger and bigger groups of African American families began migrating to Harlem which led to the population expanding drastically.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Jimmie Lee Jackson was an African American veteran and Civil Rights activist.  Who tried many amounts of times to register to vote but was never able to.   Who died unforgivably at a young age of 26 in Selma Alabama.  He died February 18th, 1965 and was shot in the stomach by a Alabama state trooper.  Because he was trying to save his mother from being beaten at Mack's Cafe.  He had to take refuge with other African Americans but he soon died of infections from the wounds.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>going down Edmund Pettus Bridge state troopers were waiting at the end and told the marchers that they had 2 minutes to dispart.&nbsp; Williams had asked the officer who had gave everyone the command to leave to speak to him.&nbsp; But instead the officer claimed that there was nothing to speak about.&nbsp; Then not even minutes later the commanding officer told the rest of the state troopers to advance tear gas.&nbsp; While the tear gas was going the marchers were getting beaten by bullwhips and, stomped on from the officers on horse back, and spat on.&nbsp; About 50 marchers were hospitalized including John Lewis.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
