Summary of Current Innovation

The current innovation that I have selected is the Butterfly IQ. It is one of the many hand held, portable ultrasound machines that simply connect to one's phone. My first time seeing this was in my work setting. Instead of using a vein finder to place an IV for a patient with impossibly small veins, our anesthesiologist whipped this out of his bag. Within a couple of minutes and a smudge of gel later, we were able to find a place to place an IV. The quality of the picture was extremely clear. The probe uses a usb cable compatible with the phone being used and that is all the equipment necessary. For someone that has not ever heard of this kind of technology, accuracy and ability to view certain areas might be a concern. According to Le (2022), "Each standardized patient was assigned to one of three POCUS views: Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST) right upper quadrant view, transverse view of the neck with the internal jugular vein and carotid artery, or parasternal long-axis view of the heart. Using the four handheld devices, all 24 POCUS experts independently acquired the same view on the same model" (para 6). This statement is not directed toward the Butterfly IQ alone, but including that model in with comparison of other hand held ultrasounds.

Carter - Communication (Influencing) Having someone like carter with communication as a strength would be an asset. Communication is important and not everyone always finds it easy or is able to put what they are thinking into words.

Cindy - Connectedness (Relationship Building) When times get tough, it is easy to lose focus. Having someone who exhibits connectedness (faith in all things) is a trait that would be important.

Carlee - Consistency (Executing) Someone like Carlee would add structure to the team. People that have this trait as a strength try to treat everybody fairly and the same.

Pablo - Positivity (Relationship Building) Positivity is such an important characteristic to have. Things are not always going to go the way you want them to go and its easy to let that affect outlook. To have positivity as a strength and be able to be optimistic no matter what can make all the difference in the world in a non ideal situation.

Randall - Responsibility (Executing)
This characteristic is important because being able to hold your self accountable also says a lot of other thing about character. It shows honesty.

My top 5 strengths: Consistency, Discipline, Harmony, Restorative, Focus. I believe discipline and focus (structure and order) are two traits that helps a team stay on track. People that are restorative are good at fixing things when they go wrong and Harmony is being able to work peacefully. Everyone on the team has something different to contribute and that what I believe make a strong team.
