         <description><![CDATA[<div>• shavings&nbsp;<br>• pellets - deep litter&nbsp;<br>• saw dust&nbsp;<br>• paper shavings&nbsp;<br>• wood chip&nbsp;<br>• rubber matting&nbsp;<br>• cardboard&nbsp;<br>- type of bedding depends on how much time the horse is in the stable + horses individual needs.<br><br>Woodchip:<br>Pro+<br>• soft<br>• high absorbent&nbsp;<br>• easy to clean&nbsp;<br>• less dusty then shavings&nbsp;<br>Con:&nbsp;<br>• some are toxic (black walnut)<br><br>Pallets:&nbsp;<br>Pro:<br>• easy to store&nbsp;<br>• little ammonia odor<br>• typically not dusty&nbsp;<br>Con:<br>• sprinkle water on then<br>• expensive&nbsp;<br>• Not good in winter as water freezers&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;Sawdust:<br>Cons:<br>• really dusty&nbsp;<br>Pro:<br>•cheap&nbsp;<br>• can get it anywhere&nbsp;<br>Straw:<br>Pros:&nbsp;<br>• easy to find&nbsp;<br>• nice n warm&nbsp;<br>• cheap&nbsp;<br>• big beds/banks good for horses stop getting cast&nbsp;<br>Cons:&nbsp;<br>•&nbsp; not as absorbent&nbsp;<br>•. Has to be cleaned regular&nbsp;<br>• some horse may eat it&nbsp;<br>Rubber mats:<br>Pros:&nbsp;<br>• easy to clean&nbsp;<br>•<br>Cons:<br>• Not as absorbent&nbsp;<br>• expensive&nbsp;<br>• slippy&nbsp;<br>Paper (shavings)&nbsp;<br>Pros:&nbsp;<br>• highly absorbent&nbsp;<br>• horses don’t eat it&nbsp;<br>Cons:&nbsp;<br>• gets slippy when wet&nbsp;<br>• it’s bulks together&nbsp;<br><br><br><br><br><br></div><div>&nbsp;<br><br><br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>American Barn Stabling - Were stables are all in together under one roof<br>Advantages: Horses can interact: In winter its sheltered from the wind and rain: Good ventilation: A lot of room is taken up:&nbsp;<br>Disadvantage: Expensive: pass disease easier: some horses may not like been so close to others: If isles are tight then some horses don't like it:<br>Traditional Stabling - Were stables are single or next to each other but outside they have doors which open directly.<br>Advantages: Can be individually disinfected: Ideal for bigger horses: no cross contamination: better for horses which like being on their own: can add more stables if needed<br>Disadvantages: some horses prefer to see others: equipment cant be stored outside stable.<br>Crew Stable - Barn stabling were youngsters, retired horses or mare and foals can be stored.<br>Advantages: horses can interact naturally: Deep littered and all you have to do is muck out at end of year: good for bad weather<br>Disadvantages: fighting or bullying can occur: some horses getting less food than others: Worms and infections will spread easier:<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Rug racks<br>Hay racks&nbsp;<br>Automatic water drinkers&nbsp;<br>Feed mangers (fixed or ones that twist in and out of the stable)&nbsp;<br>Tie rings, may have multiple to tie up and for haynets<br>Salt lick holders<br>Lighting&nbsp;<br>Rubber matting&nbsp;<br>Drainage&nbsp;<br>Weave grills on the stable door, or top door has bars so the horse can’t get their head out.&nbsp;<br>Stable door chain.&nbsp;<br><br>Ventilation:&nbsp;<br>Stable top door open<br>Windows, may be open or have wooden lats that can be pushed open or closed to let air in<br>Air vents<br>In traditional stables the walls may not go all the way to the roof to allow ventilation down the whole line of stables<br>American barns already open, so whole building needs ventilation rather than the stables </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. good drainage - slope down slightly<br>2. rubber matting (comfort but is unhygienic)&nbsp;<br>3. good ventilation&nbsp;<br>4. 12 foot by 12 foot minimum 5. high ceiling&nbsp;<br>6. electricity&nbsp;for lights in the stable<br>7. brick or wood, bricks stronger wood horses can chew it&nbsp;<br>8. they need access to clean fresh water such as a automatic drinker however some horses don't like them and you cant measure how much they have drunk, so a bucket might be better.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Systems- Haynet&nbsp;<br>Advantages - can be prepared in advance , easy to weigh and handle , easy to soak, slows down the rate of the horse eating&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantages - time consuming to make the net, can cause self injury for the horse, unnatural position while eating<br><br>Loose hay (on floor)&nbsp;<br>Advantages- natural for horse to eat from the ground, labour saving and safe for the horse<br><br>Disadvantages- wasteful , untidy and liable to contamination&nbsp;<br><br>Hay manger - advantages&nbsp;<br>Prevents contamination from the floor, more natural than haynets&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantages- cause self injury to the horse, layer of dust underneath can be caused<br><br>Hay feeder/crate (field)&nbsp;<br>Advantages - horses can naturally eat together , helps keep the field tidy&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantages- can cause self injury to the horses , some horses fight over food meaning others get less therefore can't monitor feeding </div>]]></description>
