Your lesson covered so much content...from idioms to description to essay organization.  Because I didn't get to see you present the lesson, it was difficult (for me) to see how you transitioned from one topic to the next.  I would love to see you teach this someday.  Including student work made the lesson come alive for me.

I was taken with your epigraph.  I copied it into my writer's notebook for later use.  C.S. Lewis was also a teacher through his writing.  I knew the theme for this memoir would be "it's never too late to change."  Although, I think you were always the caring, loving teacher Lucas needed...you just didn't have all the information you needed about his life.

This memoir taught me to always, as Mary Oliver said, "Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it."

Clearly you do this on a regular basis.

Thank you for teaching me today to do the same.
