I am not surprised by source C. Source C implies that people want to eat healthier. Source C states that “healthy food can taste delicious. Plus, if it is presented in a form that is familiar in terms of taste, convenience and price, it will sell.” This means that people will eat healthier food if presented to them showing that they want to be healthy. Source C is supported by Source F. Source F implies that people want to eat healthier. Source F states that “For fast food places have to stay afloat, they need to cater to an increasingly health-conscious audience. Since the health-conscious audience is increasing, it shows that people are more concerned about health and want to eat healthier.

Source C as it claims that fast food chains selling healthier choices is beneficial. Source C states that “are seeing more orders for salads”. This shows that selling healthier choices in fast food chains allows people to have healthier meals. Source E challenges source C as it claims that healthy food in fast food chains are not beneficial. Source E shows a unhealthy looking man ordering “a Big Mac and some fries” on top of his healthy food. This shows that Americans are still consuming junk food and not eating healthy diets. I am surprised by source C as source E challenges source C.

Overall I am surprised because source C is an article by WebMD which provides information and tools for managing health by the director of nutrition for WebMD. So it is expected to critise and put down fast food restaurants as it is not healthy. But in this case it commends fast food chains for offering healthy choices. Hence I am surprised???

I am not surprised because source C states that fast food chains are healthy choices for Americans. This is evident from “ with obesity increasing in the US, corporations and the media are paying more attention to anti-obesity efforts. Mcdonalds is among many fast food chains now offering premium salads,’
This suggests that fast food chains are now offering healthier options, and that they help to make Americans lives healthier by having the option to buy salads, hence making it beneficial so Americans should eat from fast food chains. This is supported by source F states that fast food chains are getting healthier . This is evident from ‘more fast food chains are offering healthier options.’ . This suggests that fast food chains are offering healthier options, it is an effective way of getting people to eat healthier , hence fast food restaurant’s efforts are effective, and hence they are beneficial to the Americans. Since source F supports source C, I am not surprised

Overall, i am not surprised because source c is an article published by WebMD which provides tools and information for managing health, written by the director of nutrition from WebMD , hence the purpose is to convince Americans that fast food restaurants are getting healthier and encouraging them to eat the healthier options at fast food chains so that Americans can eat at fast food restaurants and consuming the healthy food there , hence this is expected since it is written by a director of nutrition which is suppose to promote the healthy products of the fast food chain and he is someone who is educated on this topic of health nutrition.

1) I am surprised by Source C as it says that fast food chains are effective in promoting healthy food, This is evident from the source as it states “78% of restaurants in the ‘quick-service’ category which includes fast food, are seeing more orders for salads.” This suggests that fast food restaurants are able to convince majority of people to consume a healthier choice even in a mainly unearthly franchise. This is challenged by Source B as it says that fast food chains are not effective in promoting healthy food. Source B states “Fast food is loaded with calories, low in nutrients and almost totally lacking in fruits, vegetables and fiber.” This suggests that fast food chains have influenced many to consume food that will potentially harm their health.

2) Overall, I am not surprised by Source C. The source was published to convince fast food consumers that fast food chains provide healthier options so that fast food consumers would purchase healthier food instead of unhealthy food. The provenance suggests that the article was published on WebMD that provides information and tools for managing health. This article was written by a director on nutrition who was also a former director of medical institutions. This shows that he has years of experience and has a balanced view on fast food chains hence showing the reliability of this source. Therefore Source C is overall not surprising.

1. I am not surprised as source C says that fast food chains are offering healthier options. Source C states that, “McDonald’s is among the many fast food chains now offering premium salads. They sold 300 million salads in the US in the past years.” This implies that as McDonald’s, a world renowned fast food chain moves towards providing healthier options, this may pave the way for other fast food restaurants to follow suit and would revolutionise the fast food industry to be healthier. This is supported by source F. Source F says that fast food may have healthier options available which could be beneficial. Source F states that, “More fast food chains are offering healthier options” This implies that as fast food chains progress toward healthy living by offering healthier options, this could encourage customers to embrace healthier options. Since source F supports source C, I am not surprised.

2. Overall, I am not surprised because of the purpose of source C. Source C is produced to convince the average fast food consumer that fast food is becoming healthy, so that they would choose the healthier options.

I am surprised by Source C as it mentions that fast-food chains are serving healthier food options and that fast food chains are not so unhealthy anymore. Source C states, “fast food, are seeing more orders for salads.” This implies that McDonald’s is becoming healthier in terms of the food they serve and it has encouraged Americans to eat healthily. However, Source E challenges Source C in stating that Americans have not changed their eating habits despite the presence of healthier food options. Source E depicts a customer ordering low-in-calories food options, and then adding on burgers and fries. This implies that the addition of healthy fast food options did not affect American’s choices in food and did not encourage them to eat healthily. As Source E challenges Source C, I am surprised by the source.

Overall, I am not surprised by Source C as Source C was published by the director of nutrition for WebMD and was a former director at medical institutions. the publisher’s purpose was to convince US citizens that fast-food chains were not as unhealthy as people may think so that US citizens would be more open minded about fast-food chains. This is evident in “which includes fast food, are seeing more orders for salads”. Hence, the publisher should be well educated about how healthy fast-food chains are. However, the publisher still speaks positively about fast-food chains. Furthermore, the publisher does not have any reason to be biased towards fast-food chains. Hence, Source C is reliable and I am not surprised

This is evident from “With obesity increasing in the US, cooperation and the media are paying more attention to anti-obesity efforts”. This is challenged by source B which claims that America does not care much to safeguard the health of citizens. This is supported by the comic which depicts an interaction between a fast food chain worker and customer where the customer orders a mix between unhealthy and healthy food. This suggests that the addition of healthy food is deem ineffective as ordering both fast food and healthy food defeats the purpose of having healthy food in the first place as the nutritions are still not well balanced.Since source E challenges source C, it makes me surprised.

2)Overall,I am surprised by source C .The writer of the article is the former director of nutrition for WebMD and medical institutions hence it would be expected that he would discourage others from eating at fast food chains. However, the purpose of the source is to convince the citizens that healthy food in fast food chains are not threatening to their health as there are healthy alternatives so that they will dine at such places. Therefore, it is not expected and is rather surprising.

I am surprised by Source C, as source C states that restaurants are getting consumers to lead healthier lives. This is evident from “corporation and the media are paying more attention to anti-obesity efforts” and “are seeing more orders for salads”. This implies that with more focus on reducing the issue of obesity, restaurants are selling healthier options, causing consumers to order more healthy choices like salads. However, this is challenged by Source E, as source E states that even with healthy choices, consumers’ old habits still stay. This is evident from the image of an obese man ordering “a big mac and some fries” as the cashier says “one low-cal mandarin, almond and watercress salad”. This implies that even with initiatives to encourage healthy eating, it is difficult to get consumers to quit unhealthy food, which is equivalent to not having any positive effects. Since Source E challenges Source C, I am hence surprised by Source C.

Overall, I am suprised by Source C. Source C is written by an American website that provides information and tools for managing health. Source C is not managed by any government-related agency, and is a third party in the issue, meaning the website is more likely to provide a balanced and supported statement. The purpose of Source C is to reaffirm American citizens that they are doing good enough to ensure healthy living among themselves, so that the American citizens are reassured that they are doing well and will be more determined to live an even healthier lifestyle. Therefore, Source C is surprising.

i am surprised because source c states that with obesity increaseing in the US, corporations and the media are paying more attention to anti-obesity efforts. McDonald’s is among the many fast food chains now offering premium salads. This shows that many fast food chains are now giving those who wish to consume healthier meals the option to do that. this means that introducing healther meals increases the likelihood of customers opting for healthier options. however source C is challenged by source E as it displays how the healthy fast food options may not help at all. source E shows an obese man ordering low calorie foods and healthy foods like salads. however to top it all off he ordered a big mac and some fries which pretty much results in an overall unhealthy meal due to the excessive calories the big mac and fries contain. since having healthy meals do not benefit the customer if they choose to order healthy options as their side meals, source E shows that the option for healthy meals are not effective and thus the efforts from the restaurant are ineffective and are therefore not beneficial to the americans. and i am surprised and i am shocked and i didnt expect that

overall i am surprised because source C is an American website that provides information and tools for managing health and the writer was the former director at medical institutions who wish to convince people to avoid the public not to dine at the fast food stores as they are still not a healthy option which surprised me because he is supposed to be an expert
