She said that people used to have front porches attached to their homes, and that they would just sit and rock outside while talking and thinking. Clarisse then goes on to say that architects removed the porches because they were supposedly ugly, but the real reason was probably that the government didn't like the idea of people sitting and thinking about the way the world is so much. This echoes the dystopian idea that the government and the world should not be questioned and instead accepted for the way it is.

On page 61, Mrs. Montag is watching TV and they talk about a "converter attachment" and a "spot wavex scramber". These pieces of technology make it so that when a person is watching TV, they are able to put in the name that they wish so it makes it seem like they're actually involved in the show. This is another example of science fiction because it explains a futuristic technology.

In the Netflix series, 3%, only 3% of the population gets to live an upper-middle class life style. THe entire world is in poverty, living in slums with crime abroad, and to be sent to the perfect civilization you must pass a rigorous series of tests. This is an example of dystopia because the government is controlling the well being of the people and deciding who gets higher privileges
