We use addition every day! Here's an example!

If you have 2 crackers and a friend gives you 3 more, you can use addition to figure out that you now have 5 crackers!

Now you try! On a table, count out 7 M&Ms. On the other side, count out 3 M&Ms.

Now, we want to figure out how many M&Ms we have in total!

To do this, we will need to use addition. We know that we have 7 M&Ms on one side and three on the other side.

Now, we want to ADD the 3 M&Ms to the 7 that we have.

Let's count them one by one and add them together! 8... 9... 10!

So, altogether, we now have 10 M&Ms!
